Yesterday i visited Anelle (say it out loud) and Ansalle Today I visited Venilen and Vellaine Was the guy who named "Yria" having a joke? There are pleanty more impossibly similarly names systems out there. Can't we think of some new names?
How about gallente space? We could have some Gallic sounding names or some that sound they might be located in Eastern Europe? Perhaps something further afield. Did the Indians or Chinese never make it into space to name some systems that don't begin with A or L ?

Yaria = Urea Ainaille, Anelle and Ansalle. If someone tells you to meet them at one of these systems, are you really going to easily be able to remember it 5 minutes later (assuming it wasn't written down) or distinguish it from the other two?
Also two of them sound a lot like Anal

Seriously? This is the new feature you're proposing - renaming a few systems that kind of sound like English words you aren't comfortable with? Talk about sounding anal.
There are a lot of systems in Gallente space that sound quite Gallic to me. <Shrug> After 500 years, Old English would be virtually incomprehensible to any English speaking person today. After 3000 years... who's to say what sounds "frenchy"?
I dunno - I've seen better ideas from you. This is definitely not a "cool new feature" in my opinion.

They just sound bad due your lack of language skills. Knowing a few and being able to pronounce those names properly names like "Yria" and "Anelle" and "Ansalle" sound actually incredibly good.

That's pretty funny coming from a player named "Macro Slasher" Please feel free to go back under your bridge.
I have the language skills and have little problems figuring out their pronunciation, but I'll still have to agree with Spoon. Most of the names sound too much alike and make little sense when compared to the way things have been traditionally named by explorers. (Renamed after old lands/cities, regious themes, mythology, names of leaders/lovers/family/or self.)
Constellations should have some sort of theme about them. It shouldn't be renamed to suit a single language or group, but Spoon has a very valid point, and I agree with him that some changes need to be made.
I don't give a crap about what things might "sound like" in 3000 years, I just want to know where I am. If they can break reality by giving us warp drives and fully automated stations, but noone seems to know how to make any autonomous mining equipment, or let people run around with the name "Macro Slasher", then they can hook us up with some names that make more sense and help us find our way.
Here are some ideas Constellations named after every major city in XXXXXX country. Relgious themes for the Ammar systems Tribal themse for Minmatars Industrial War machine themes for the Caldari Whiny & superior themes for the Gallente Corporation based names for the territory of the corps that inhabit them The first names of every popular female actress globally. The names of the Developer's pets. Fronteer themes and slogans, there are plenty from every nationality and race during the settlement of the US. I'm sure someone would be dumb enough to name stars after their favorite type of car. Some that are purely marketing driven by corps.
Anything please, most of the names for most of the systems sound like they were just randomly made up.
If no then they might as well have all the system names just be XY-43 as that is about as easy to deal with.

Why do we need to rename systems? Is this because you are unable to pronounce them or simply don't like the idea of something sounding close to "urea" or "anal". Personally I think the system names are good and should stay the way they are, some are near impossible to pronounce but so is Welsh. Renaming systems now will make everyone need to search their assets constantly to find anything so let's keep it as it is please.

Congratulations you know how to use Google search, your mom would be proud.
:P I'm well aware of how to spell Akula and to which language it belongs to as well as what it means. Unfortuntatly as games go more global I'm finding it ever more difficult to use my favorite game nick as some other yahoo who knows Russian usually beats me too it. Since I refuse to do some dumb version such as Akula69 or whatever I'm usually stuck with mispelling it.
For those of you playing at home Akula is name for a type of Soviet submarine, featured prominently in "Hunt for Red October" it also is the Russian word for "Shark" which is the definition I usually am referencing Akula too.

It's a nice name, and I didn't have to use Google. Anyways.. Being able to talk in some 5 languages makes you really understand those names better. There are distinct themes that sort of point into the different language systems.. And when they think of them in those contexts they mostly sound pretty nice.
(As does "Akula" too, if you pronounce it properly and not the "English way".)
