I hope there is a computer whiz out there better than me.
In short, ever since the last patch I have not been able to stay in the game on my PC for longer than 10 minutes. Ranges from 1-10 mins 'never' longer. The game is set to re-boot client on crashes - but doesn't.
It is not the account that is generating the problem, and I have not installed anything on to the computer before the patrch or after the patch.
(I was on holiday during the patch, and although it was working perfectly when I left, and the computer was left switched off and not put back on until i arrived back - after the patch - the patch was installed and ever since i can't stay in the game).
Has 'anyone' got any ideas please? It's killing me!!
Thanks

Few questions:
OS? and is it updated? Specs of PC and internet connection: GHz, RAM, Vid card, etc? You have a firewall? If so, what do you have, and is it uptodate? Are all your drivers up todate?
Answer me these questions (and get everything up todate) and we can go the next step.

Okay, apart from the low RAM (512 is bearly enought to run XP well) your PC sounds good. Even if it is not the problem I will suggest getting at least another 512, you will not regret it.
Now in game, where are you. Since the patch the server load has increases, so the hub systems are locking up alot and may be cuasing your crashes. Solotion will be to get out of hub systems or wait till the new blades are in for TQ.
But honestly with the new client, I think its your RAM. That is typical of low ram issues to crash to DT and appear the program is gone with out a relog.

Edited by: Arcsine on 20/01/2006 19:31:28 Does Eve generate a crash log? If so, maybe take a peek in there.

Most likely drivers.
I recently had a problem where Eve would actually cause my computer to reboot when it crashed. This wouldn't happen frequently, but enough to be annoying. After restarting I got the "windows has recovered from a serious error" box that said a device driver had caused the crash.
I went to the windows update site, and there was a published update for my sound card driver. I updated and haven't had the problem since.
Most likely on crashes, if there aren't mass reports of crashes from everyone, its most likely specific to your computer, and usually a specific piece of hardware or driver thats causing the problem.
I would recommend going to the websites of all the manufacturers of the components of your PC and checking for updated drivers.

limited ram don't run with me.
The PC as a whole flies as it is, and EVE when it loads has no lag whatsoever. My old PC at home only has 256 RAM and that's a breeze with eve, even with the new patch.
So by process of ilimination it's not the RAM.
---
it just happened agaion, and I got a sneak peak at a error window. It said a Graphics driver had failed. Have you heard of a: ialmrnt5 ?? and after that a programme needed to 'end task' as PC closed down, all i got was a bit like: cierco..... but could be anything. Am going to do a search on net to see if this might be a virus. But any suggestions welcome.

Yes check tho drivers again. and make sure your XP is upto date. Soundcard is honestly the first thing I will check, becuase soundcards have had problems with eve in the past. Try disabling sound.

not true the same thing happens to me and I have 1.5 gigs of ram...
It just crashes to desktop without warning and eve client doesnt restart like its supposed to. Everything is up to date and I do not have sisi installed on the same version as I use to play. Mine doesnt happen as frequently as hers, but I believe it to be my router... not sure how to update it since I just got one.

What tyye of router...Usally in admin on rounter there is an update firmware. All you need is to download the most recent firmware as a file and hit the update firmware in the routers admin-selecte the file and that will update it. easy to do.
But to the orginal poster, doute its the router, unless he has a hardware fire wall in use.

Hi,
will try sound card. But it's weird that it suddenly stops. But you're right - i had a simillar problem with another game that was because of the sound card - but then, I had just put in a new one so it kinda figured.
However, that weird post above about a virus, turned out to be a genuine one, and has fixed a graphic problem my thing had (of loading pictures very badly).
Hasn't fixed the crash though.
Didn't think of the router ... though again, nothing changed with the router. I am directly contected to it though, by the ethernet cable (or whatever it is). Will have a play around with that next week.
Home timew ..:P
