Any of the regulars here might know me as somone who posts every so often (but I'm probably not that recognisable).
Now, the other day, I was putting an escrow on for someone. You see, they were moving their stuff (about 10 iteron mark 4s worth (with large expanders!) from Nomaa to Jita to sell most of it, and then from Jita to their destination.
I think I set it so that it was "available to all". And then lo and behold a script stole it within 2 seconds of me putting it on there.
Is there any point in petitioning for this? I meant to set it to the player's name so only he could access it. I know it's my fault and there's probably nothing I can do but it's always worth asking, right?

I don't think so. If it was lost due to a bug or lag, sure. But not regular old human error.

I sit and watch escrow while watching TV sometimes. I'm not a script. I didn't get it this time and I haven't been on escrow in days but if I had gotten it and read this, I'd personally give it back. If you put it up there for for 0 isk, it's your own fault. It's a harsh lesson but you'll double check escrows from now on, won't you? I lost 200mil to a 0.0 escrow (and made back 700mil over the months) and since then I've double and triple checked every escrow.
Unfortunately, petitioning to get this back will only waste GM time and clog up the petition queue. You lost it fair and square to a valid game mechanic. Would you petition if you were scammed out of isk? Would you petition if you jettisoned a rare item and someone decloaked beside you, zoomed in and swiped it from the can? Would you petition if you left a "0" off a sell order for a bunch of battelships and someone bought them? Don't think so..
It's unfortunate and it happens to most people. The real question is how will you deal with it? I know lots of people just kick and scream and act like they did nothing wrong - usually they keep losing things to 0isk escrows again and again. If you can accept the loss gracefully and learn from the experience, wasn't it worth losing the stuff?

Asking usually can't hurt. The part about "a script stole it" intrigues me though.
As a request, try to include some constructive feedback in the 'features and suggestions' forum on how to improve the Escrow UI.

Honestly, at any time there are several people buying things off escrow that will see the 0.0 ones go up. Even people who sit watching for them. If you think it's a script or something, an exploit petition will clear it up. The GM can find who took the escrow and talk to them to check if they are actually there, I guess. There's a reason people don't macro everything. They get caught and banned.

I thought as much, always worth checking though. I was sure I had put in the player's name, but .. well obviously i didnt :)
Dont know how much my friend lost overall, probably about 10-20 million - I offered to give it back. I'll have to be a lot more careful in the future :)
Thanks for the quick help guys :) Great as normal!

Glad it all worked out in the end but now that it's sorted, this discussion only serves now to advertise script abuse to players, which will get them banned.
