Edited by: keepiru on 21/01/2006 03:43:26 Well, the best sniper in game is a megathron with 425 IIs and the 100% range bonus ammo.
Although possibly an eagle with 100% range ammo can do better... not sure.
For extreme range, whichever is best out of these ships boosted by an oneiros with 4 shadow serp tracking links. ------------- Please fix the EW stacking bug, it's a disgrace!

Apoc or geddon right now can push out to 200km with 100% ammo and tachyon II.

Tempests with Tremor Ammo can easily hit at over 220km now. With 3 T2 sensor boosters and maxed targeting skills the Tempest can target 245km. Without logging in and checking I hazzard a guess with the falloff plus optimal its actually further than I can target with tracking computers and enhancers as well.

Edited by: Wrayeth on 21/01/2006 06:52:57 I haven't tried the new ammo yet (I don't snipe much and only really use 1400's II in a fleet fight), but with 2 sensor booster II's I can lock at 194, and with three tracking computer II's and carbonized lead the optimal + falloff of a 1400 II is 177km. This still leaves room for four damage mods and a large accomodation armor rep (or large armor rep II, depending on your level of advanced weapon upgrades). -Wrayeth

The phoon has 10% optimal range for guns. it can have the greatest optimal with the new t2 ammo in game. locking at that range might prove a problem.
4 1400 II w tremor 4 sensor boostter II 7 trackinge enchanters II

True. The problem is that the typhoon sucks - with only 4 turret slots (and only one bonus that increases damage, in comparison to the tempest, which has two) its damage output is crap. You're better off flying a tempest for the sniping role, even though the typhoon's bonus would seem to indicate it would be a good sniper. -Wrayeth

with maxed optimal range skills, hac lvl 5 and the 100% range ammo, the eagle (t2 sniper fitted) can reach an optimal range of 230km. ________________________________________________________________

Very much so as long as you can keep as far away from the targets and try to aggress one group at a time. May be fit an afterburner to help keep distance and move away further before you start the shooting. Any instant aggression is the main problem but with drones and also assault launchers you may be able to cope.
As regardes the 7 enhancers in the lows it's good to get as much tracking and range bonus as possible, but AFAIK it's pointless to stack any more than 4 of the same module or different modules that enhance an atribute. So try 4 enhancers and 2 gyros on a Tempest.

So try 3 enhancers, 2 gyros and a diag on a Tempest. It fits easily and you can also stick 2 assault launchers.

A properly fitted Megathron with Spike Ammo and t2 425's is currently the ship that can shoot the farthest of all ships in the game.
With the right fitting you can shoot further than the maximum locking range (which is 249km).

over 250 with cruise raven (no implants), but thats rubbish as a sniper because everyone will just warp before the missiles reach them (30seconds)

Raven with cruises can shoot up to that 249km iirc, but it's usually pointless anyway (in pvp that is).

Not really! In fleet battles you can kill the frigs/inties easier 200km out for some reason and Scorps/blackbirds can't jam you. Just warp a few seconds later than your fleet and a further distance away. Also if you are beyond thier targeting range they can't auto target back and most people too busy to see that you got them locked.
Skidmark Smellybum > you shot him? Silas McQueen > yeah, mr Budz over there wasted us. Silas McQueen > we were feeling headstrong. |

think the most my Caracal gets to is 127km with Cruiser 5, bombardment 5 and projection 5, but damn 200 with a BS is just sick.
