Greetings,
I am currently the commander of a Thorax class cruiser. It may seem strange that a Caldari will pilot the ships of the Gallente but the sleek design and outstanding performance appeal to me. I do not yet trust the new medium blasters which has recently become common, the old tradition of heavily plating my cruisers has served me well in the past. Here is my current fitting:
5x 150mm Railguns Micro Warp Drive, Warp Disruptor, Webifier Medium Armor Repairer, Kinetic and Explosive Active Hardeners, Magnetic Field Stabilizer, 1600mm Plate
Recently, I have been seeing more and more Vexor class vessels. Because I have been specializing in the Thorax, there has been little chance to try out other ships. Even with my doubt about it's capabilities, I engaged. We both unleashed our drones and to my surprise, his seemed to be much more powerful than mine. Judging from scans of the enemy ship, there was a very advanced and unique sensor array which constantly relayed information to each drone. This enabled them to work at their optimal. Perhaps the Thorax has grown outdated and not up to par with this ship. Am I better off getting a Vexor?

Eh..I don't know. You might havae been able to own him with medium t2 blasters and some explosive drones or something. 150mm railguns aren't really the guns of choice on a rax. -------------- now this is the way a sig should be Xio2 |

Yeah, I tried that for a bit but my cap dies too quickly with the medium blasters. With those you really need to kill the enemy fast. Which is why I stuck with the 150s.

Fit a nos or a cap booster. Or go with small t2 neutrons, they hurt :)

A vexor pilot is more then likely fully drone specialised so his drones will be doing more damage, have more resilience etc.
Fit medium guns to your rax to get more oput of the ship bonus.
Finally IMO all cruiser and bigger ship pilots shouuld have drone skills trained up to at least 3.
As a Galente ship pilot even 4 or better because drones are primary or secondary weapons on galente ships.
I ve done the math and with my current skills and ship bonus my drones are doing at least 250% damage with 200% hitpoints compared to base values. Probably even more if I add in modules etc.

Basically, if you cut through all the role playing stuff, what I am asking is if the Vexor is better for the setup I have been using. And can it fit it with a cap booster?

If you are trying to fit the same or similar loadout to the thorax on the vexor, probably not. Really though, Vexor is much better than thorax since RMR changes. Nerfing the drone bay of the thorax, as well as increasing the power/survivability of drones, pushes the vexor past the Thorax if you ask me.

i do not think the vexor is better then the thorax now, medium blasters hurt alot, and you just gotta kill that which you are trying to kill before your cap goes dry
after the patch the rax takes much better skills to fly well now, where before with minimal skills you could get near max output, where now the vexor is easyer to fit, and more suited to newer players.
