this is no area or system. COSMOS are agents and you will find them a little bit outside from beginner areas. knowledge is the only thing that doubles by shareing! |

Of course there is an area. For now, one constellation for each race. Araz Constellation for Amarr. Don't know the others.

Edited by: Wyke Mossari on 24/01/2006 00:41:08 Forget COSMOS, it's a playground for the gm/devs in their Uber polaris ships.
Unless you can fly the most advanced tech II ships cramed to the hilt with uber modules, you will get ganked as soon as you enter the complexes. The gates limit you to small ships like frigates and you will meet Battleships and Cruisers which you cant even make an impact on their shields.
You lose a 30m ships for a reward of a blueprint you cant build.
COSMOS is pointless waste of time for most players.

well, if you cant manage it, dont do it.
its not easy, but whats easy gets boring. however you should seek a group of players for the more advanced missions as they are concepted for exactly that - teamwork. life's a game - sometimes you loose, most times other win. |

Cosmos complexes are great for royally screwing your standings over. You're gonna kil loads of npc on your crusade for rare parts and heads.
If you don't know in advance wich agents can be found at what spot, you might warp right into a few enemy bs without entering a ds area.
The hawt miniprofessions apply negative pressure in large quantities for various reasons. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

I don't know if I was extremely lucky. I have finished 9 Amarr Cosmos agents in my Vexor with T1 fitting (only T2 drones and repairer). Missions were mostly easy and the rewards excellent (implants). I assume there are harder mission out there that I will need a HAC,and missions that require some very rare items, but untill now, for me, Cosmos was very easy. Something has to be done about the BPCs though. They are not so good, to require such rare skills and components to build them.

After few days of doing COSMOS, I come to the following conclusion:
Rewarded BPCs are a way for GMs to keep player in COSMOS long after all mission are done. Most ppl complain about necessery skils are rare. They are not that rare. Anyone who realy want to build hi-end items find out that some parts are realy dificult to find. You can search and search and while searching find skills several times and still dont have all parts.
There is a "catch 22" in COSMOS philosofy. Hi-end complex's contain hi-end items. Extremly hard (maybe imposible) to do solo. It is MMORPG, so get a good gang, which is not allways easy. When You find a good gang and spend a hour or two hacking, realise that You need more parts, so wait x days until another good gang is formed and pray that You will be online and RL issue will allow to play.
I dont know how to solve this problem. If GMs makes plex easyer, everyone will do it solo and that is not the point. If it stays this way, becomes frustating in time

All interesting stuff here.
It seems people have been having problems going up against big spawns in cosmos, does this apply to all agents? Does the agent level still apply in cosmos the same as normal agents?
I intend to start cosmos missions within a week or so, as soon as i have a few extra skills (archeology and hacking) and intend on starting on a lvl 1 (just to get a taste for it) with a m8 of mine. We will both be in vengeance so would expect to make mincemeat of any lvl 1 mission but we are treating it as a learning experience. should we expect a shock?

I 've done more than half of gallente COSMOS, and the comet cpx there is a real b**ch. The forst part is pretty easy, then you discover the serpentis runner, thorax with bloodclaw missiles, immun to web and stuff.
Ok you pwn them, next gate you see inty-tristan with web, MWD (no sorry, BIG AB ),some cruisers (not really dangerous, still huge AB), a loads of cans locked ( to use with hack skill), and the best, loads of megathron goigng at 900ms.....
need HAC ( a deimios can solo that finger in the nose), or friends in tech 2 ships.
After that still a gate, the scanner shows some sentry III and cruiser missiles stuff

COSMOS is filled with traps and puzzles which make it considerable more difficult in the interesting challenging way.
However the opponents are also a lot tougher at any lvl (stronger tanks, more firepower) than you would meet at the same level with conventional missions.
A lot of the lvl 1 COSMOS agents are fairly straight forward courier missions for my skills (6m in combat skills). Some will be into low-sec space. I complete most of the lvl 1 agents available to me in Ani in a few days.
I found lvl 2 agents MUCH more difficult than conventional agents at lvl 3. The complexes themselves have stronger opponents than CONCORD lvl 5 complexes.
I've had to give up on COSMOS Lvl 2 agents after loosing a Moa, Celestis, Blackbird and Merlin on one mission series where the agent first sends you into a trap with a battleship, later tells you, that you should be able to avoid encounters with any rats and to take a fast ship. However you gate into a deadspace where you are surrounded by Maru Daredevils webbing you, local conditions prevent you warping out, a Cruiser is lobbing heavy missiles at you and when you reach the gate you find you have to kill all the Maru to open it.
I find if you multiply the agent lvl by the complex layer you get a rule of thumb of how they compare to CONCORD complexes.

Yes.
Some tips: - Rat through each of the belts at least once before you start. You will encounter loot like pass keys you will need.
- The public complexes are heavily camped however they do respawn basic rats very fast. The specialist rats and more importantly their usefull drops respawn very slowly, some seem to spawn only once a day, so there is always a rush staight after downtime.
- Visit the first layer of each of the public complexes before you start. Yes you're adding to the camping but they drop loot items you will need in your interactions with agents.
- Agents will introduce you to hidden complexes, usually giving you a clue on how to find them, rather than a nav point. So start bookmarking and making notes about them.
- When you find a couple or more of agents in a single COSMOS complex, they are usually opponents/enemies and working for one will prohibit you from working for the other, beyond the simple effect of standing. So choose with care.
