Hello, I am not a very new player but I am having a very difficult time in finding which race suites me. I thought that I would like lasers but found out that their sounds have changed which changed my own opinion about them greatly. I like the fact that they require no time to reload, but its getting boring. I can say that i have had some time to review amarr since I do incursions with a navy apoc. But every time I log off, I think about how better off I could be with minmatar or caldari ships for incursions (im am debating over minmatar or caldari, caldari being missiles look cool, and minmatar being that thier ships look cool). I just want race that suites me, in which I prefer to be more tanky than agile (obviously caldari), but would like to do alot of damage (minmatar) and fight at a distance (which could be both i guess). I need some help deciding this. Note: I also have to keep this character because its the only thing keeping my account funded, isk for plex. |

Yeah, what he said. Seriously, train up support skills and then all of the racial stuff isn't that big of a deal. Heck, with the next patch the turrets are all going to be easier to train. It only takes a few days of training to tinker with all the weapons and see what kind of combat and tank you prefer. (at least at a base level).
If you really want a taste, spend a few days of training on each race and join RVB and see what you get from that. This message brought to you by Experience(tm). When common sense fails you, experience will come to the rescue. Experience(tm) from the makers of CONCORD. |

Do both, at least in the long-term. In the short-term, if you have any desire to PvP, go with Minmatar, the training will help you out both in PvP and PvE. That, and the support skills you've (hopefully) built up for lasers, like increases to turret damage, range, tracking, etc. will be fairly helpful for autocannons and artillery that will be used on (most) Minmatar ships.
That said, if I read your employment history right, you're two months old and you're flying a Navypoc. That's pretty young to fly a ship like that effectively, your support skills are likely very weak, I'd be surprised if you can use T2 lasers, etc. That said, now's a decent time to switch races, as you don't have a ton of time invested into the Amarrian skills.
One last thought. Make a new character on the same account, do skill training on them instead of your current "main", and advance them to be your new main in the long-run. In the meantime, continue to use your existing character (Jagooey) to earn yourself money and items. Glory |

Without implants, and without a remap: * Time to train small / medium / large / hybrid / laser / projectile turrets & support skills to level 3: 13d 11h 39m 30s * Time to train all races to frigate / destroyer / cruiser / battlecruiser /battleship 3: 17d 20h 52s Total time: 31d 7h 40m 22s
Of course you'll want other skills to fit rigs, defenses, and such. |

As for Incursions. Keep in mind that missiles arent used much there cause of their delayed damage projection. Want to have some chat in game? Need help to get into the game as a new player? Just join my channel: Crazy Dutch Guy |

Thanks for the tips but i still dont know if i would like to go minmatar. It would seem harder to kite in pvp than to rather sit their and tank such as caldari does. Im not really bought into the speed is your tank kind of thing, i want a 'guaranteed' tank. |

What about Gallente? They work in Incursions, are more tanky than agile, and deal more damage than Minmatar. |

Caldari are primarily active shield tanked, which tend to be vulnerable to alpha strikes, but rep faster at the expense of being less capacitor efficient.
Minmatar can go either way. They tend to speed tank too.
Gallente tend to be like Amarr, but with less armor (they also need more speed). |

Lets just put it this way, I want former caldari and minmatar players to try and convince me to join their race in terms of how good they are. Brag all you want but dont get into back story bullcrap, brag about how better the tactics and gameplay are. |

My advice would be if you watch some youtube pvp/pve vids with the weapon systems/ship you want to see.
But I can tell you that speed and range in pvp are the most important especially if it's small gang/solo pvp, dmg is more important in fleets, a pilot that can dictate range and speed will always outshine superior dmg.
Also if you like to build your ships in a lot of different ways = versatility, the best are minmatar then maybe gallente.
And sooner or later you will want to train different weapon systems/ships, for instance the pirate frigates require them and they're loads of fun to fly in the long run. |

I would just tell you that the only thing if you want to change your race is if you don't like the name, you can resculpt your character whenever you want (same race/faction thought) and it's really a waste of SP, I playing now for 2 months and I redid a new character just because of name change, I don't regret it much because I wanted to but it is really a waste of SP for nothing because remember this game is a long term game so just decide on which character you like and do w/e race doesn't mean alot and you will train alot of things eventually without even noticing while playing, like when you specialize in all minmatar what will you do then ? maybe train amarr again or so, so really no problem if you cross train.
It is better to stick with one character unless you have alts training at the same time or other accounts. |

Stay with one character. If you want to crosstrain into Minmatar ships, a new character will need to train shield tanking, projectile weapons, Minmatar ships, general ship skills (e.g. Heavy Assault Cruisers), rig skills, navigation skills, capacitor and fitting skills, drone skills and more.
Your existing character will only need to train shield tanking, projectile weapons and the Minmatar ship skills (and maybe a couple of other things like rig skills you didn't care about before).
Being crosstrained also picks up access to pirate faction ships for you and can open up new options for your Amarr ships (much as if I were to crosstrain into Minmatar from my existing Gallente skills, I'd pick up the ability to fit a shield-tanked Ishtar fairly well, which my present skills do not support).
Don't use alts to avoid training skills on your main. Instead use alts to avoid sullying your main's reputation with certain acts (AWOXing, annoying mercenary groups on the forums, corp thefts, etc). https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. I agree to what he said.
I am in the same type of confusion. I have just a one and half month old toon. Now i daily for the last 3 or 4 days, i have been thinking about creating a new character and starting fresh. This is my first toon and i made lots of mistakes. I wanted to create a perfect Clone and i wanted to do it again.
I am yet to decide a Race. I initially planned Gallante for Drones. Then switched to Caldari for Missions and wormhole support ships.
As far as i have read this forums, i have the following thoughts.
1. Amarr has good line of T2 Ships. Amarr T1 ships are not best among PVP fleets. Unless you have all T2 laser skills and T2 Ship Skills no one invites you. Amarr ships or for that matter Armor ships are not welcomed in Faction wars or Wormhole or incrusion Fleet. Amarr Ships that are frequently used are Apoc. & Guardian. No one is suggesting Amarr ships for Missions. That being said, Amarr ships have very limited game play possibilities.
2. Caldari on the other hand they say its best for Missions. I have trained Drake and missles skills to lvl 3. But i find it difficult to use Caldari ships on Amarr space. The DPS from missiles is less than the DPS from Lasers. I am not sure. I have tried all variants of missiles. Caldari Tengu is famous. As far as i have read, Caldari is being exclusively famous for ALT characters (Train Tengu).
3. Gallante / Minmatar - Am not sure about it. These races have some best T1 Ships. Early game advancement is possible with these 2 races.
I wanted to do a Drone Boat Character. So i had either Amarr or Gallante, but what i heard was, No one is inviting Droane boats to a Fleet. My summed up thoghts
PVP, Faction wars, Alliance wars, wormhole (Def / Offence) - T2 Ships for Amarr, Gallante & Minmtar all ships are welcome. T1 ships for caldari which is most welcomed is merlin. T1 Amarr ships are not welcome , except for some fleet. incrusion - Shield Tank mostly. Armor tank fleet is very rare. Mission - Every race can do missions easily

In some circumstances this is ok, such as making sure your industrial character doesn't have needless ship skills, and your pvper isn't for instance also your freighter pilot.
