it sucks that we probably have to wait another 6 months before V3 is fully implemented. i was hoping to see new skins this winter. You mean that comet? That for some reason seems to be high on the V3 list, even though it's possibly the single least popular faction frig? Wouldn't it make sense to start with the stations that EVERYONE SEES, then move on to the ships?

They look decent but nothing really special. They fit the EVE style well enough, I guess.
Of all the 4 new BC hulls I think I like the Gallente Talos the most. And no, not because I'm Gallente! It just looks most like a predator. |

You mean more Moa, Blackbird and Raven style lopsided random asymmetry-only-for-asymmetry-sake offenses to the eyes and basic rules of industrial design?
No thanks. Ships that look like the broken remains of a washing machine are not superior to ships that look like ships. EVE doesnGÇÖt need to be grotesquely asymmetrical to be different. Aesthetics count, and the majority of humanity have been shown to prefer symmetry or at most subtle asymmetry a la the new Caldari hull.

The wingy bits at the end of the twin hull are asymmetrical. This actually breaks the tradition of not only Caldari but symmetrical Battlecruiser hulls in general. Jack bubu wrote:why dont be bitter about it
oh wait. Unlike the Dev Blogs, I am dying to know what word you left out between "dont" and "be".
AWW C'mon Alara you are Vet enough to know there was a BC asymmetrical since ever, and that CCP remodeled symmetricaly after the trinity engine without no one noticing?

Yeah, it kind of a bummer they have to make 12 or so different skins of each model before they can be released. Incursus hull variants are my 2nd favorite to fly in the game. I like the look of it, but I still have the nagging feeling that there are better things the art department could be doing... like wasn't the art department blamed recently as the reason we can't have modular POSes? |

Asymmetry for the sake of "oh look at us, we're so different because our ships are not symmetrical, we're so 1337 cool" is a bit outdated by now. If CCP designed asymmetrical ships for one faction (and they would actually look nice) it would have been a very nice special and distinguishing feature - but all ships from all factions (and most being pretty ugly on top of that) gets old pretty quickly.

I just dislike the asymetical ships where one side has all the thrust from the engines and the other all the mass.
The ships that would only be able to fly in a circle..other than that the asymetrical gind of grows on me. I have actually Un-subbed my acounts, We need more to do, not more to wear. E-mail me when CCP has decent content a casual player can access in a 1-2h play period that is actually fun and contributes to long term goals. |

This is what I was after. Of course not every ship in EvE should be asymmetric. There are many good looking symmetric ships around starting from the lowly merlin to abaddon and beyound. And I do agree that the majority should be these. However having only symmetrical designs would make the visuals boring IMO, even with the minimal variation on the brige location. But I guess it's better to play safe rather than make another model you get to hear complaints about for the next few years since asymmetry can be swing and miss. |

I think that is rather the point of the V3 initiative, to avoid doing exactly that. Once the basic hull and textures are done, the shader values can be manipulated quickly and easily to provide different color schemes.
Whether this will eventually be able to be manipulated by the players, or will be used to generate a variety of color schemes for each ship in advance, is anybody's guess.
I also rather suspect that part of the work done is to enable missile launcher bays to be modeled and visible as well.

I'm really disappointed with the Ascog's design. Even the Drake is more interesting to look at than that.
I seriously hope they at least have it more in the style of Tengu/Scorpion. |

Oops sorry then in fact the ferox was assymetrical (the rear engines on the side wings was different back pre trinity)
CCP somehow changed them and almost no one noticed (or even less complained at forums) |

I can't agree with that one.
Not only was the Mentor a contest winner I believe, but we are long over due for another ship with that design concept. Currently we only have 2 frigates with this concept. To kill the enemy and break their toys!

Apparently the Naga (Caldari Ship) Is Hybrid/Missle interchangable with bonuses to both.
I just want a Caldari ship that can make use of my blaster skills. Along with the Hybrid buff, it may actually be worth flying. |
