At the Eve Vegas round table I asked about the long standing bugs in the Mac client and why nothing is happening. I got:
Its a cider bug, and hence CCP is not the one working on it, and there is no ETA. No one at CCP really works on the Mac client. That is why there are so few Dev comments here, no one has that job. They said they do not have that many Mac users. ( I did not get a chance to point out that that may be because the client has many issues).
They do give money to Transgaming. But if they stopped doing that the amount saved would be insufficient for CCP to make a true Mac client.
As others wanted to ask questions, I did not get a chance to go deeper. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Thanks for atleast forcing them to own up to them not caring about us. GM saying they aren't dropping mac support is a pretty poor attempt to save face in this mess.
But, atleast I can confirm that the entire game is FUBAR in OS X 10.9, so either transgaming is going to have to get off their asses or CCP is going to drop mac support for real this time.
Either way, my PC motherboard just died, and my subs are expiring. Looks like I'm going to save $40/month from now on. I'm not going to downgrade my entire OS for a game I can't play just to update my skill queue until my RMA comes in, so time to enjoy some KSP!
Thanks CCP, for not caring about your players. They haven't even updated the stickys in this forum. They still say retribution 1.1 |

I happened to walk in on a second round table, this one on Community. It was attended by three Devs, one of which was CCP Guard. He asked "What can we at CCP do to better communicate with you?"
I told him about this issue, the lack of CCP interaction with us Mac users, the long running bugs, the long running threads with no Dev comments, and so on. He said he would take a look at the situation. I also suggested to him that CCP was losing customers due to the sad state of the Mac client, and that maybe the low Mac client use fraction was due to that state. He agreed.
At least I got the word in. I have no idea what will happen, if anything. I did hear that a Dev tweeted that CCP is not yet supporting 10.9 because 10.9 has not yet been delivered.
I hope they (or Transgaming) are at least working on it. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

I was in the community and the EvE UI round tables and both of them got beat up pretty badly on Mac support.
CCP Arrow was somewhat apologetic, but you could tell his hands were tied. He genuinely seemed like he wanted to help, but knew he really has no chance of helping.
DX11 and OSX.9 are going to be HUGE challenges for CCP/Transgaming |

That's about what I thought. I agree that the vicious cycle of few Mac users because of bad Mac client because of few Mac users, etc., is exactly where we are. Also, Mac users who love games have kept a PC on the side for years. That's not really new.
Thanks for asking! Proud founder and member of the Belligerent Desirables. |
