Greetings!
Ok, in an attempt to get some of my former corp mates back online and on here, a few of us came up with an idea. We were thinking that this idea, could make losing your last clone more bearable, getting back online after extended absences, more logical and increase the overall pew pew and manufacturing need of the game.
Lets say a friend of mine has been gone from eve for 2 years. Another friend, just got his pod blown sky high and forgot to update his clone *ouch*. Their boned, training time ect.. they feel let down. So why not allow returning players and/or people that have lost their stuff, to BUY back their time?
Saying I missed 6 months, no training. Ok yea, if I was here, I could of managed near 2400+ Sp's an hour. But I wasn't here. If say I payed, 10$ US to CCP, I could get 1 month of training time back at.. 1700 Sp's per hour, up to the amount of time I was gone. I do believe that this could possibly raise subscriptions once again, increase revenue for CCP (which is good..more cash means better development budget) And most absolutly mean, having more rooks flying carriers, BS's ect.. and getting into the thick of things. Which in that line, would mean more laughs, ships being destroyed and more ships needing to be built ;)
This would also keep those people beneith those that had actually been here. And sorry, there is no way I would let it be Plex'd in. *shrug* I've got 4 people just waiting in the wing. They want to come back but feel daunted. We felt like this could possibly alleveate some of that worry and push people over the resub edge.
There is more to it but thats the basis, any input would be freakin great. o7 Corin |

Pay-to-win, after afk'ing.
GMs have been fiercely opposing of such measures. (Other topics are up about this.)
EVE is one of the few games with the littlest obligation to advance, I personally think you'd be asking too much. |

So what you are suggesting is taking away the advantage of staying subscribed.. and nullifying the achievement of those who have stayed subscribed and training for years...... seems like not that great an idea. |

so lets replace your friends with another player's inactive alt account.
they see after new expansion ship xyz is really popular chars who fly said ship are going for premium isk they wake up alt, they pay ccp to give them sp for ship xyz mastery ???? profit
TL;DR the danger is this is riskless char market speculation. There is no speculation in fact. Current speculators have to guess for example that the new SOE ships will be kick ass once expansion reaches gold disk stage. If last minute ccp changed something fierce they just wasted a few months of sp farming and will not get a good return possibly.
If willing to pay for this why not just keep sub active and go elsewhere. I have been doing this most of the year. I stop in for a mission or 2 sometimes, try my hand at market pvp maybe. But by and large not a very active eve player.
Steam buys and rl has me elsewhere basically. I however keep up sp trains hitting isk savings in eve or just pay my $15 a month so when I can play more full time I am good. |

Well if they pay 3 times the price of stayign subscrbed for tha time... then it would not become fantastically common and could mean good money for CCP (and that is good for everyone) "If brute force does not solve your problem..... -áthen you are -ásurely not using enough!" |

So then why does that same logic not apply to letting anyone just buy skillpoints? |

Hmmm I'm not seeing exactly how (Lets take another comment first) spending.. 25 $, per month you have missed to gain a portion of the Sp's you missed in a month.. , @ 1600 per hour or even a bit lower, would be "Special Perks" Over consistant suscribers.. (who in personal practice and opinion) don't actually pay "Money" for their account. We can just buy plex four ourselves with isk. But nevertheless :)
But to the rest of the comments, I know the GM's stance on afking and other.. such practices. We realized the idea was a stretch but it was something we wanted to at least put out there and see what people think. We got that. lol. Thanks guys. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about it. But with the advent of plex and the rest of it.. I was curious how my favorite online game was making money (kind of hard to run a buisness without it) lol.
Anyway guys, again, thanks. I'm sure we'll keep pondering on this but yea.

*Proceeds to make new account, then let it turn inactive. After 6 months I decide that the character has cooked long enough for what I want to do with it. I proceed to reactivate the account, and get back the training I missed on, all while saving a $30, because its even CHEAPER to let your account go dormant and come back later.
It's the game you can succeed in without even having to log in once every 24 hours!!! Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012. |

That is why it would only make sens eif was More expensive. WAY more expensive.
As could have a limit.
I know peopel think its unfair to them that stayed playing. But think on the GAME. THe game can alwaqys use more players, recoverign old players is easier thisway. A lot of players do nto return exactly because they have the feelign they can never recover that time
Urge.. stop beign selfish and think on the game. Allow for soemthign like "Up to 1 year or interval"be rebought by 2 years of plexes. "If brute force does not solve your problem..... -áthen you are -ásurely not using enough!" |

Why does every bad idea attempt to claim that they will 'increase pew pew'.
It's like they expect us to go, "this idea sucks, it goes against everything Eve is and will definitely upset the balance and fairness of the SP system. OH WAIT... it will INCREASE PEW PEW... lets do it"

You should be rewarded for staying subbed... oh wait, it already works like that.. so no changes needed.
If your change was implemented subs would probably actually drop because lesser used accounts would just unsub since they can just buy back whatever sp they'd miss out on _IF_ it ever became worth it.

- make it worth the same as single plex (and impossible to buy batch with discounted price per single unit) - not using plex from the market, just tie pricing of this feature with pricing of plex on website. - make those points available as char was 17 in all stats (minimum that stat can go under remap - this would count as every stat was at its lowest and totally ignored any implants) - that is 1500 SP per hour
getting back 1 year of SP would cost 12x 19,95 = 239,4 Euro and that would equal to 13 140 000 SP
Active subscription is 131.40 Euro (add 1 year gametime not using plex) and using perfect remap and +4 implants that are more affordable (not to go extremes with +5) it gives 2610 SP per hour totaling with 22 863 600 SP
So essentially you are getting a bit more than HALF of SP you could have gotten on active subscription while paying a bit less than TWICE the cost of subscription.
EDIT:
Did the math:
54887,21 SP per 1 Euro using buyback 174000 SP per 1 Euro on active sub |

No! Subscribe and train...don't sub and don't train it really is that simple.
It's not all about SP you know, it's in what you have trained in, hoe you fly, what you do and how you do, what you do it with and who you do it with or to.
Get around the "SP IS EVERYTHING" mentality and get on with it or find something else to play. The problem with this idea is that you could come back, buy back the SP you missed or 50% or whatever and train the FOTM...it's not right and should never be implemented. To answer the plex question. Plex is not just created out of thin air, players buy GTC convert them to plex and then sell them. So CCP is still getting payed just other players are paying for the plex users sub in exchange for isk. |
