That isn't what I meant.
If you look at the Paladin, it has what looks like glowing circuitry, instead of just a plastic wrap effect. The Kronos has glowing greeble and pillars and such.
The last time I looked at the Golem in bastion, it was just untextured grey rods that had some glowing 'plastic wrap' over them.
I wanted to know if there had been any textures added to the Golem's internals besides that plastic wrap overlay. Ch+½j+ì Katrina Oniseki ~ (RDC) Chief Operations Officer ~ [I-RED] Director of Public Relations |

Golem was updated with a lightning texture for the bars that are attached to the doors. Also, under the open doors, on the hull side, is a line of lights that pulse from back to front. No circuitry like the paladin has though. |

Well the only one(s) that make any sense are the Golem and Vargur from a lore stand point. The golem opens shield extenders/amplifies and the Vargur covers it fragile solar arrays with increased armour.
How ever the Kronos animation more so belongs on a shield ship...it doesn't gain any armour in fact I would say it looses defence (from an appearance standpoint) by popping open the 2X hood sections. Same thing goes for the Paladin it exposes more of the ships "innards" rather then protecting them. I am trying to rap my head around this from a lore based stand point but I am having trouble doing so with the way the current animations are.
Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for how to "justify" the Paladin and Kronos bastion animations from a lore standpoint. |

The way I see it, they're like additional cooling systems. Bastion overclocks the entire ship and **** opens up to vent the heat. |

Bastion Module wrote:An electronic interface designed to augment and enhance a marauder's siege abilities. Through a series of electromagnetic polarity field shifts, the bastion module diverts energy from the ship's propulsion and warp systems to lend additional power to its defensive capabilities.
Since those "glowy bits" are electrical-looking in nature, it's not unreasonable to assume that these are the structures responsible for manipulating the electromagnetic fields.
Side note: I have to question whether the text should read "electromagnetic field polarity shifts" instead of what it currently does.
Bastion Module also wrote:This results in a greatly increased rate of defensive self-sustenance and a boost to the ship's overall damage resistances. It also extends the reach of all the vessel's weapon systems, allowing it to engage targets at farther ranges. Due to the ionic field created by the bastion module, all remote effects - from friend or foe both - will not affect the ship while in bastion mode.
It's also not unreasonable to assume that since the "glowy bits" are also, well, glowing, that they are responsible for emitting the ionic field that results in this isolation effect. As an "ionic field" is comprised of ions and ions have to do with magnetism and electricity, these structures might even be serving both purposes - they are deployed and activated to actuate the required polarity shifts, the process of which also results in creating the ionic field around the ship.
With regards to the Kronos, consider it more along the lines of the front armor being raised to deflect enemy attacks. NPCs always fight each other from the front, so it makes sense that an NPC-designed ship would work that way. Besides, NPCs can't possibly design ships around capsuleer sensibilities; our realm is so completely removed from theirs that they aren't even capable of comprehending it until/unless they ascend (or descend, perhaps) to our level. |

All of them look great I have to say. I really like the finished Paladin paint job, very nice. Detail on the Golem and Vargur is impressive.
Great job CCP Bunnyvirus and the Art Department! The Vargur looks decent as always, unfortunately still not as good as the Tempest FI which is beautiful. The Kronos looks great. The Golem looks... Caldari, if you guys like it then so be it. The Paladin... I have to say I definitely like the model on TQ infinitely more, it is beefier and feels massive, it is one of my favourite hulls in the game. Both the NApoc and the Apoc look stunning, the Paladin only needed a new paint job because the Brown/Gold thing just doesn't work for any of the ships. Now on SiSi the whole section i felt was a defining feature in the low/middle of the ship was removed, all the 'armour plating' was tightened up to the point it now has virtually no defining features at all. The SiSi Paladin looks like one of those sheet metal toys you had back in the days; Both the paint job and the model are now quite unappealing; I'm sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings but that is how I feel about it, it looks simplistic and cheap, I've tried to see it from another perspective as a sleek bullet train but it just looks like a lifeless tin can. How I see the models: Paladin SiSiPaladin TQPlease revert to the TQ model or at least give the SiSi model some stunning new defining features and a new paint job.
I kind of agree, up to a point.
By giving the Paladin more armor on the model, they took away a lot of the intricate details of the TQ model.
I think there should have been more of a compromise... More armor on the visual model doesn't make a lot of sense anyway as there's a lot of exposed bits on the ship left. Instead of making it closed up front you could have made a version of the TQ model which, in bastion mode, closed all the 'in between' spaces between the plates... |

When the first videos of a new model golem showed up I hated it. Low texture, horrible wings, loss of the 'elegance' and scope of ship the current raven hull sports. I'm one of the few who loves the golem hull, it defines caldari thinking in all things. Function over Form.
Then the model '2.0' showed up with the gun metal grey and more textures. I accepted it, missed my unique tech 2 caldari orange/black scheme. Lai Dai uses it on their ships, isnt it? Don't recall specifically. Anyways, I accepted it as better than nothing.
And now, '3.0' hits, and I am pleased. Does my golem still have the elegant state feel to her? No. CCP has taken some of the magic of the raven class hull from my ship. This ship feels 'smaller' to the eyes. The raven hull has always felt massive to me, this does not. This looks more like the fighter class of battleships now. But, my orange black is back, the textures are amazingly detailed and this is better than nothing.
Send'er my way ccp, I'll adapt to this. |

So CPP had opportunity not only to redesign the marauders to actually look like badass the-end-of-it ships and pimp them with awesomesauce bastion animation telegraphing the hell coming and instead... you get this. I am disappointed :( After seeing the Odyssey jump gates, then DX11 announced... you could use Marauders as example of newly possible graphical improvements (and finally let us use high-res textures) and make them boss! Hell when I first got into EVE, I was exploring what all can you fly here and I was like, hmmm Marauders, show me...
Anyway enough of bitching, CPP BunnyVirus could you at least shed some light on why they look like they do? Was this really your art team's goal (I find that hard to believe, as when I look around I can see what are you capable of and admire your work)? Was there not enough time? Was this first try of this sort of animation? |

On a side note, I do think the sides of the Paladin looks pretty weak now. The Apoc model has this beefy looking section right there where the bastion stuff is on the Paladin and it looks heavier. Bastion should've done something more with that. |

I can appreciate that the Paladin needs to sacrifice some external things in order to look more armored, but since they weren't replaced with anything else I can't help feeling that the other Apocalypse models look somewhat more detailed now. |
