Possibly.
They did say they wanted to do it. It would be cool, so long as it's outsourced entirely and CCP don't waste potential development pay checks on it. "In the age of information, ignorance is a choice." |

It was talked about at fanfest, as a possible HBO mini-series. The director has done one with HBO before, if I understood correctly. start the POS revamp NOW--make it happen |

Don't forget, there's an episode that is nothing but various angles of mining lasers fitted to at least 50 mining ships entitled "You're Welcome, Stoners" that is capped off by the whole damn mining op getting blown up. |

having a scene where an entire mining fleet gets blown up wouldn't be entirely out of the question, at fanfest, they said they were going to base this series on real things that happened in the last 10 years of Eve.
So yes, the great wars will be in there, among many other big stories of Eve Online.

its a good think they don't plan to do a simultaneous events system like Defiance, because you just know someone would try to gank the in game ships/characters etc. with something. I wouldn't like to see CCP cancel the show after the main characters get blown up suddenly in the middle of an episode. |

I am trying hard to recall a single case where there was movie or tv show based on a videogame and anything good came out of it...

But.....I want to watch a half hour/hour of nothing but mining lasers, Orcas, Rorquals, and possibly a freighter/industrial on my TV while I run a mining op IRL.
Bonus points if both get ganked at the same time!
That or the sheer amount of mining lasers would lull me to sleep like the awesome lullaby it is. |

"Real" is an interesting question.
I think that Defiance showed how this kind of thing is possible: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2189221/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
They announced it at fanfest and I believe they have Baltasar Korm+íkur (Icelandic Director) on record as interested in being part of the project: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0466349/?ref_=tt_ov_dr
As far as I know, that's about as real as it gets. I would expect to hear it's being pitched around to various entertainment execs right now, but as far as I know that's as far as it has gotten in the development process.
So will it happen? Big question mark. No one really knows unless there has been progress that is being kept under wraps.

Orphen: the first season of the TV show was far superior to the video game. The second season never even happened, as far as I've managed to convince myself after witnessin what was purported to be it.
Halo Expanded Universe: I must now change my manthong, for it is sticky.
The Street Fighter Anime (not the American cartoon, nor the American live action movie, which were both total drek)
Battletech: based off the Mechwarrior games which were based off the old tabletop RPG, which spawned a massive Expanded Universe that is (warning: heresy follows) better than Star Wars, Star Trek, and Stargate, combined.
If anyone brings up Wing Commander, I will kill you (in game).
I'm pretty sure there was an anime TV show based off of a game called Assault Suits Valken (aka: Cybernator, in North America). I heard it was amazing. Not surprising, considering that Assault Suits Valken was one of the best sci fi adaptations of the Vietnam War that ever happened.
