Can I still run level 4 missions with my drake. or do I have to use my tengu(cannot afford right now.). I noticed my shield rigging skills are not sufficient anymore when I try to rig my drake with shield rigging devices, when it was always that way before . I'm an old player and level 4 missions were never a problem in the drake, always the Raven which I've always had problems. but I was killed in no time after 3 years away from the game. |

Drakes don't do respectable damage anymore, mostly due to the HM nerf.
There is still a officer/faction fitted HAM drake capable of doing 4's.
If you enjoy that for E-peen reasons go you, otherwise it is just mental torture.
Nowadays battlecruisers are just lame, drop the dead weight and move on as you shouldn't want to be doing 4's in a drake.
Lvl 4's are BS territory it can be done by other ship but it lacks efficiency. |

I think you can also do lvl4s respectably well in turret command ships after the medium rail/arty/beam buff and command ship rebalance |

It's not the missioning drake from days of old as mentioned. They nerfed it hard.
That being said, you said you can fly a raven? The new low SP meta is to get a micro jump drive and get away from the enemy and snipe them in either a cruise raven or sentry domi. It works great on everything but guristas. The skill only takes like half an hour. Then you don't need much of a tank at all. Hope this helps.

It lost 1% resist per level to the shields.
5% less tank makes it harder.
Add that to the one less missile slot and the HM nerf.
L4 Drake is dead. |

All trolls aside the Drake was okay for level 4 missions a few nerfs back. It was a bad choice if max ISK per hour was your goal but it could do was missions without having to warp out and complete them without spending hours.
Today I would say it's a very poor choice. The tank is weaker and most importantly heavy missiles don't have enough range in a Drake. A MJD Raven seems to be a good choice among newer mission pilots. The MJD can get you at range where you take less incoming damage and have the time to pick away at targets. |

Sounds like a good fit and was not aware of the micro jump drive. Still will need level 5 cruises which will take awhile. |

If only using Meta 4 launchers, and therefore not T2 ammo, I would be inclined to remove the painter, and the Cap Booster. Potentially you could fit a Large Shield Booster, and 2 Boost Amplifiers, a BS usually can handle the cap usage of a large booster fine. You won't have to worry about Cap charges then, and hopefully you could remove the Co-Pro in lows and fit something else. |

A Raven with some resists and an XL booster can take most L4s pretty well. Not immensely SP-rich either. Definitely go with the Raven. |

You dont need much tank with cruise raven, unless you are fighting those damned guristas, they got awful range.
Fit suggested above is more than enough, i would maybe switch cap booster for some target painter, be honest, you do not need tankiness, when firing from 130 km (unless guristas again ^^ ) and pulse tank is enough for those few unlucky frigs that get close enough to be torn apart by your drones.
Drake, however, is useless even as cheapest l4 boat, because you can get that damn raven for 180M
