I've recently come back to this game after a couple years, none of the characters I have are particularly old, the oldest being maybe one month with about 700K skill points. I'm looking at my attributes and I'm starting to think they're poorly laid out.
Currently I have: Intelligence6 Perception16 Charisma6 Willpower12 Memory 6
And that's after a couple levels in several of the stat boosting skills. I'm discovering that Int and Memory may have been more important than I first thought, and I'm wondering if I should reroll and what would be the best way to get back in the action after doing so. Any advice?

For a PvP character you have a real good start. You will slow down a bit when training drones, engineering & mechanic but after 3 years my gunnery & spaceship command dwarf everything else so I wouldn't worry to much about that. So if combat is your thing don't reroll but if your planning on being an idustrialist your screwed Sawa's Graphic Fun Time

As far as I have seen, willpower doesn't seem to be the primary attribute in any skill. I checked every category (including Command) and sampled a few skills from each of them but I could not find a single one.
Perception is a very useful one, being the basis for all spaceship command and Memory is a great started as it helps you bump up the other skills faster.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but there are no skills in the game with Willpower as their primary attribute (that I have seen,) so it seemed to me like a pretty useless skill. Jack the memory though and the other learning skills (attributes) will come much easier and faster.

youre attributes are fine. willpower isnt a primary in many skills, but it is secondary in a lot of them. after training skills for over 2 years, ive found that most my my skills are in percep/will...and you have good percep/will, so youre fine.
my base attributes, btw, are:
10 int 6 char 6 perc 12 mem 5 will

Several of the trade skills have their primary attribute as willpower if im not mistaken, and not to mention it is the secondary attribute in almost all gunnery skills. I'd reccomend dropping a few points from charisma instead but not any lower than a 6.

If memory serves willpower is primary when you start playing with the tech 2 toys like HACs. Since 30-50% of your training may end up in spaceship command and another 30% in gunnery the last thing i would call willpower is useless.
Willpower is very important! Sawa's Graphic Fun Time

Decide what your occupation will be first.
As said, PVPer = Perception + Willpower Manufacturing = Intelligence + Memory Trading & Leadership skills = Charisma.
This is a pretty global view on what the attributes are used on.

combat is the plan; thanks for the advice guys, I'll stick to it and boost my learning skills some to help with the engineering/mechanics side of my ships.

If you didnt read or know yet, every skillpoint not spent in learning is a time wasted. Try to get every learning skill and train em up (leave the charisma one till last). Also try to save cash for the advanced learning skills and train them to lvl4 max (lvl5 is waste, takes like 2 or 3 years to get benefit from it). And again, leave the charisma one till last.
Good luck
