The RMR control tower price increases were rather excessive and turned an already difficult practice (especially for small corps) into a difficult AND costly enterprise.
In the interests of opening up 0.0, promoting the use of POS's and encouraging sovereignty battles, I would have thought lower priced control towers were an advantage. |

It was to stop POS spamming. You are supposed to protect your POS, not just spam so many that it will take months for the enemy to kill them all.
I don't think you trust, in, my, self-righteous suicide. |

There were other possible solutions, Soverenty module or something, but jacking the POS prices by 300% is the easiest fix that can be done.
Anything else would require new coding, and would probably not be looked at until after Kali, unless another major patch is going to come out between now and then.

The tower itself did not represent a significant enough investment to defend it adequately, or even sell if when you're finished with it.
Simply put, people were abandoning their towers rather than unanchoring them - and using them as stalling tactics.

every bs bpo cost more than a full fitted large pos. pos are still not expensive enoph. with small corps there is also a solution, get big or join a big. on the other hand it works for me and the other two ppl in my corp. ----------------------------------------- if you own something that you cant leave behind in 5 min it owns you. i was owned once too. |

I have to agree with the OP...raising prices of control towers to stop pos spamming or abandoning is just lazy. it punishes the smaller corps that would like to get into the pos business in favor of soverignty spamming whiners.
perhaps a different solution would be to allow abandoned, unfueled pos's to be "stolen"...unanchored and carted off by anyone who wanted them. much better solution imo that punishing everyone with high prices.

Then it begs the question, Has the price increase stoped the tide of POS proliferation?

I took part in one of the first POS wars and whilst boring, I wouldn't call it ugly.
The price changes have changed nothing. If you could afford to spam towers around systems before, you can still afford to do it now.
Just ask yourself, how many people engage in POS wars? A few alliances?
But how many people see owning and running a POS as an achievment worth working towards? And how many of those see using that POS as a stepping stone towards a T2 manufacturing business?
Newer players shouldn't be punished just because alliances have isk to waste. If you must increase tower prices then the increase should be weighted against the larger towers e.g. 50m, 250m, 500m for S,M,L respectively. |

A medium tower costs less than 200 million. With that you can produce simple reactions, have a well-fitted out pvp outpost, or an excellent storage yard for minerals.
What is a "small corp?" Because if you have 10 people that's only 20 million each. Or about four hours of mining each. Meaning that two, two hour mining ops would give you everything you needed.
If you have less than 10 people keeping the tower refueled is going to be a hassle anyway.
