Reading the warp speed changes, like a lot of people I was annoyed that supplying my pvp toons is going to take even longer unless I want to waste fuel and use the JF.
While I do and will continue to do this for largish loads, why not introduce a light freighter a bit like the Falcon (The Millennium. kind not the OMGIMJAMMMED kind) Something like 120km3 (enough for two bs and fits or ten cruisers and about half a JF's cargo) That can make .5 past light speed, do the kessel run in 12 parsecs and maybe just maybe defend itself a bit. (Maybe not to the point of blowing up a death star but that would be funny)
Also will give non nyx pilots chances to say "Punch it Chewie" in local
There we go a semi serious thread on eveo from me, sorry for the star wars references but its where I got the idea from.
(I really suck at grammar etc so if this is nearly unreadable feel free to mail me it edited and I will replace) |

That would be great. Something for those of us who deploy for strike operations somewhere without moving our whole base of ops (a FOB) is good, and with depots on the way, it seems CCP are in that mindset too. Would this be an ORE ship or would there be four racial variants?
Designing four ships seems like it would decrease the chance of this ever happening, but every single ship in the ORE lineup is directly and actively related to mining so I dunno about ORE getting it. |

orcas speed is getting nerfed to.
I play this game to pvp with the new changes im either going to waste more fuel then top gear does, or spends hours moving stuff. As hauling company's dont always cover where I am or move fast enough. |

You're still asking for a ship to fill a role that already exists. That you can't be bothered to do it with existing ships isn't something you can expect other people to care about. |

There has always been a strange gap between industrial haulers and freighters (orca) included, both in terms of tank and cargo capacity, but now also warp speed. I agree we need a light freighter which hauls maybe 120k, has 1/3 the tank of current freighters, and warps around the speed of a BC or so. |

Except that the Orca does not fit that role. It's designed to be out in the belts with a mining fleet, holding ships and supplies and putting ore into its bay that can then be ferried back to the Rorqual sitting somewhere in-system overseeing multiple belts worth of orca-supported mining fleets. The Orca is not a cargo ship, it's a support ship. The fact that people shoehorn the Orca into being a cargo ship anyway does not mitigate this.
It also can't carry nearly 120k worth of cargo. |

You mean a ship that can go into deep space transporting things? Kinda like.... a Deep Space Transport?
That ship we have four models for, skills for, yet is currently considered a useless ship with no valid role, so could easily be re purposed. And to prevent it getting silly with cargo expanders & rigs could have most of it as a 'special' bay with a standard sized T1 tanky industrial hold. So you still gain benefit from cargo expanders but it doesn't become freighter sized. |

This is a preconceived notion that rests entirely within your head. Since the day it was introduced, the Orca has been used very effectively for non-mining purposes. It has always been famous for being a hisec capable ship with a SMA. It was also famous for its unscannable cargo bay, and while this particular feature was nerfed, CCP very noticeably did not nerf its other uses. If the ship is supposed to be a mining ship, why does it have a 40k m3 fleet hangar? or a similarly sized primary cargo hold? why can it haul around multiple fit combat cruisers that have no use for mining?
Many people have asked CCP to split of its considerable non-mining uses into other ships and to make the Orca a true dedicated mining ship, but CCP has not given any indication they want to do this. That entire discussion/question hinges on the commonly accepted fact that the Orca is very good (even ideal) in its current state for several of these non-mining roles.

It can carry quite a bit more actually. |

Really? And what ship fills that role? It's certainly not the Orca, which aligns slower than a Fenrir. The warp's slightly faster, I suppose but even including that you're looking at maybe a 10-20% reduction in travel time for a 90% reduction in cargo hold. |

Then the OP should just ask for a faster Orca, rather than a new ship identical to the orca which can also warp way faster.
The orca also does not warp slower than a fenrir. That "10-20%" reduction is also a complete asspull unless you're talking about complete AFK autopiloting, and even then...
The OP specifically asked for something that can carry around two BS and a few fit cruisers. Well, you can fit two packaged BS hulls, a handful of fit cruisers, and plenty of room for frigs and fittings and assorted random stuff, all in a single Orca. He also asked for something faster than a freighter, which the Orca most certainly is. He also asked for 120k m3 capacity, and the orca can fit between 80,000m3 and 140,000m3, and that's not counting the ship maintenance array or the ore hold. |

A T2 version of the Orca. No Ore hold and slightly more cargo space (~200k). Being T2, make it jump capable, but with half the range of an Ark. |
