Whats a good 1400mm Tempest set-up for Solo'ing 0.0 ? i can use almost all tech II stuff and have good skills. I need a set-up that will allow me to do the damage as well as take it (shield or armour improvements?), and beable to escape if i get outnumbered or most important srambled or radar jammed.. I want to dish-out big damage fast but if I get jammed and cant lock or scambled and cant move, how many eccm's or arrays should i fit ? and 2 or 3 stabs? or just stab's and warp away when I get radar jammed? Could you give me the complete set-up High's mid's and Low's that will give me a good balance for some awsome sol'ing with the ability to escape with-out worry when the need arives.

ok so u want a tempest setup that ; 1 - lets u use t2 1400s 2 - will do "awesome" damage 3 - will be able to tank 4 - will be able to "run away" if attacked i didn't realise u could get a tempest with 14 low slots. looking at your other thread where u dont seem to know the difference between fitting a large extender or a large shield booster and this one makes me wonder what u were doing during the time it takes to train for tech2 large howies? -

I have a good set-up now and I'm simply looking to compare my setup with the opinions of others to fine tune what I have already. I dont care how good you are there is ALWAYS someone that might be better or has experimented with this longer to have a set-up that works very well. I just notice that most set-ups are too unbalanced towards damage or tanking. and it's hard to find that fine medium. wich I think I need a good balance of both to solo. I would like to hear from a mature player that has some ideas for me please. Thanks

If you want to snipe you don't need a tank, but tbh the best way to setup the tempy / mach for pvp is with autocannons and a tank. That said, this is what i like: 6 x 1400mm II, 2 x free highs, afterburner / mwd, 2x sensor booster, 2 x tracking computer, med armor rep II, 3x gyro II, 1 x tracking enchancer II, 1 x rcuII. Alpha strike ftw, nobody wants shields anyway sgb P.S. Don't worry about getting jammed, if you attack at anything over 80ks, which should still be easily within EMP / Quake range with that setup, you're well out of multispec range. If they have ladar jammers then warp back in at 140ks and reload ammo.

Edited by: Danitar on 11/02/2006 22:03:07 Hmmmm Auto Cannons,. ok what would that set-up look like? the only reason I havnt done the auto cannons in solo was the fear of getting to close to the jammers. but would be interested in seeing what a good auto cannon set-up will look like.

most people would use: 6 x 650mm IIs, 2 x heavy nos (or launchers) mwd, web, scram, cap booster, free mid, large armor rep II, hardners / plates / damage mods / cprs. Personally i like 800mmIIs in highs for that extra kick at the beginning of the fight, but you then need a rcuII to be able to fit the nos on. sgb

Edited by: Danitar on 11/02/2006 22:10:52 what would you do in the situation at close range with the auto cannons if you both have each other srambled and he jams me, and i cant warp to un-jam? add an array in a low and drop gyro or hardner?

i think you are worrying TOO much about jamming. Its not that effective, and not every1 has it.

Wait for the jam cycle to finish and resume killing him. Failing that, mwd to out of 20ks range and warp off. Failing that, die. Those are pretty much your options. ECCM is useless unless you KNOW you are going to be jammed, as it takes up a slot much better filled with something more versatile, eg your own ecm or tank. If you're worried about being jammed don't, too much. I took on a tempest the other day with 3 multis, i had a phoon with one multi. I still won, mainly because he had used too many mid slots and couldn't keep me at the right range. sgb

Hi I got today my Arty Spec I and already got a set up to my Tempest H: 6x 1400mm II, 2x Assault Launchers (Light missiles & Defenders); M: 2x Sensor Booster II, 2x Tracking Computer II, best Target Painter you can get; L: Full Gyros II Now . . . If you want a against-everything set up, sorry - this dont exist. With a Arty Tempest, DAMAGE is the way to go. - Stabs: you'll run before you engage the enemy; - Shield Tanking = no range = no tracking = no lock before you busted; - Armor Tanking = silly damage = you're useless. A freaking offense is the best defense for arty Tempest. You'll have to kill your opponent before he hit your armor or get you with a disruptor. Btw, solo PvP with this ship set up is scary: for you and for your enemy. You have to be a awesome pilot or a clueless pilot. Did you already think in jump in a gate with a ship that can only hit something above 20km? And dont think your drones and assaults will be a great help - You can try, but it's all. My 2 ISK. Many others dedicaded players will share opinios - this one is mine. Good luck with this awesome ship.

Wont do enough damage to kill anyone in a short time. Anyone worth killing anyways. Try AC's and an armor tank w/ nos for solo pvp. ---------------------------

lmao - think u missed point of forums if u think people will only post when they have something nice to say. i was trying to point out that by time he got to tech2 howies if he dont know a tempest cant do everything he was looking for then what has he been doing? sometimes being cruel may be more helpful than being nice if it stops him trying to fly a ship into 0.0 pvp-ing assuming it can do everything when it cant. -

I think for solo PvP the best thing to do is the AC tempest. Plenty of setups around this forum. Solo won't be rewarding in a Tempest imho. However, a AC Cyclone would probably more suited for what you want. And don't worry about the anti-WCS people... they just get mad when they can't actually stop you from tactically withdrawing.
