Here's something I'm struggling with at the moment, could use some other's insights.
I want to do exploration but given that I fly Amarr laser ships that pretty much forces me, due to damage types, to do so in Amarr space (which I'm fine with). Each NPC faction seems to have their own form of counter measures, the amarr one is tracking disruption and while that's already very annoying I realise that all factions have something (probably) equally annoying so I can live with that. But for some weird reason the Amarr faction NPC do a SECOND thing; they use neutralisers. Result is that you can't really do exploration in Amarr space unless you fly a ship that's not really that dependant on cap, which mostly excludes Amarr laser based ships.
Most other races can at least change they damage type without much issue and/or they can fit a passive shield tank to not have to bother with being neuted (or use weapon systems that don't use cap at all). Because they can change their damage types they can do their stuff in different faction areas of their choosing but not the Laser ships, and on top of that the ONLY faction lasers are good against are also the ONLY faction to use cap warfare.
How is this fair?
The answer I've gotten so far is "use cap boosters" which technically is true but how am I supposed to roam around (perhaps even in low sec or 0.0 space) if I have to dock up after every mission to get new booster? Ammo based ships can fill their cargo with enough ammo to last them for a day or two. With cap boosters you'll have to refuel every after every sortie. It just doesn't seem to make any sense to me, perhaps there's something I'm missing (I do hope so).
So here's the question; How are Amarr laser based ships supposed to do exploration if it forces them to do the one faction that kills their cap? Apart form that, why does the Legion, when using the laser sub system, lack drones?

The counter to neuts is range. No amount of cap boosters will get you out alive of Blood Annex, if you insist on staying upclose and personal.
Just stay out of heavy neut range and it's like they don't exist. I believe Amarr lazors can do range with enviable ease.

The good thing with amarr is that they don't use huge amounts of ammo. This is really a big benefit if you are in 0.0 or a far away low-sec. With regards to neuts: stay at range, make your ship having a high recharge rate or just bring some cap boosters and/or use drones. |

Thanks for the replies so far, "use range" seems to make sense but it doesn't. Because of doing exploration in low sec or 0.0 you can't do it in a Battleship because it's too easy a target. So you do it in a cruiser class ship but then you lack the range to take stuff out while trying to avoid the neuts.
I'm sure I'm missing something but I can't figure out a shipfit that is fast and agile enough to avoid (too much) trouble, be able to probe out sites and at the same time deal with the neutralising NPCs, while being a laserboat. I know it sounds a bit pedantic but I just want to do exploration in Amarr space with an Amarr laser ship :)

Join the 'Exploration' chat channel in-game. There are a decent number of people in there that use Legions for exploring, they should be able to help you. Unfortunately Amarr are the one race I'm not experienced with, so I'm not much help (other than pointing you towards people who are, lol). |

I fly amarr ships for exploration. I've had great success with a harbinger in blood space, high sec.
Bloods do not tracking disrupt, only neut, and it doesn't happen except in some escalations, speaking high sec again.
I also have had some luck running Sansha command relay with a NI Omen. Very doable. |

I would like to add that amarr certainly are most effective in sansha/blood areas but nothing prohibits you from doing serps or gurista (angels are too much of a bother). I did it before and while it is not most effective, it is still viable. If you insist on bloodies, having cap stable at 70% BS/harb and knowing your way around is sufficient for anything up to 6/10 (some troubles with that 1 i admit). For anything higher i would fly T2 tards ships. P.S low sec exploration is typically done in HAC/T3 but T1 BS is perfect for that as well. Yeah its easier target but its cheap as dirt, no? i use geddon myself and you can blast it (if u can ) as many times as u like, i dont care . |

Arguably the best lowsec T2 exploration hull available. It's Amarr and it handily deals with all of your problems.
The drones can easily operate outside of neut range, tracking disruption is irrelevant and if you ever do happen to find yourself within neut range for some reason, you'll also be within range of your own nos which will restore your cap. |
