Could someone please tell me what was accomplished today? The event was over before our little fleet got there... Well, we got gatecamped but that was after the announcement that the event was over. |

It showed the empires are impotant?
But it was to stop pirate illegal research. The Gallente fleet partly made it to the target system, but was repulsed by the pirate fleets. But the research station was blown up. No idea how the Amarr fleet did. |

I (actually an alt) actually made it to the target system. I warped to the beacon to shoot the research facility... but I never saw it. Maybe it did not load due to client lag, but I never saw it. But a minute later my ship was killed and a minute after that I was back at my clone station.
So it was destroyed? |

Only about 10 of us from the Amarr fleet arrived at the station we were supposed to destroy and CCP ended up self destructing it when we all died. |

i.e. yet another rigged outcome for a live event. Why CCP doesn't just make cutscenes and post them on Youtube for these things is a mystery. |

Well, now it is official!
No decent Event Managers could be found in ICELAND!
Please, volunteers are needed to help develop this island...
Shame CCP or was it just intended to provide for more Goons victims? |

Its a CCP event so you know its going to be crap.
Whay on earth did they get us to form up 25 jumps away and then expect us to warp all that way in heavy TiDi? Why not get us to form up nearby? It can't be for a surprise attack as the defenders had 2-3 jumps to do with no TiDi and we had 25 jumps with 10-25% tiDi |

If the same moron who decided to send 1200 ppl 24 Systems through Highsec on 10% Tidi Nodes had decided to open a ******* wormhole to the destination system they might have shown up.

It wasn't rigged. CCP totally expected people to go through 25 jumps of 10% TiDi 3 jumps of totally bubbled gates and a few thousand organised players......what am I saying it was a CCP event, it wasn't vindictive, it was just incompetence. |

Most of those that left the highsec rally point spent the entire time of the event travelling, because of max tidi. It was over before they had any chance of getting there. |

Took me alot of effort and lots of talking with people, but managed to get a fairly complete image of the Live event from an IC point of view:
Capsuleers respond en masse to Call to Arms, Navies fail to provide assistance!
In short: Capsuleers failed to arrive (most didn't even make it to the meatgrinders in null!) Pirates won & secured their research. |

Very nicely done and in a nice game lore/news style, Glad you were able to find out so much. the only question I have is if the reports of capsuleers being instructed to enter the gate camped systems, almost as if they had been betrayed rather than incompetence, It appears there were some in authority who wished to see the capsuleers sacrificed; And others reporting that their flight commanders abandoned them once they had been delivered for slaughter.
Possibly Traitors in the Navies and Others? Could place a role based 'explanation' to what appears to have happened, Investigations are taking place? and those responsible will be reeducated in the Amarr slave camps if found culpable?
This could allow a certain amount of face saving all round?
Just a thought, Your work is good stuff. |

Good questions this, and I can answer m with knowledge. I used to live in Curse, and the target system for the event there meant you would be passing several gatecamps because it were bottlenecks. Curse isn't a nullsec monobloc, but due to it's NPC nature + history, it contains alot of *wardlord* corps/alliances holding a system/timezone slot, so fighting & camping gates is daily bread.
Doril is notorious for this. Usually you'd ask in your intelchannel *Who's camping Doril now?* and hope it were friendlies. So in short, the capsuleers lead into the gatecamps was not of malicious intent, but rather incompetence. It didn't help that curse was a warzone (Nullsec had fleets ready for defense, they got deployed against the highsec fleet)
The fleet commanders abandoning them is more a result of frustation, you finally managed to get your fleet in some shape out the highsec TiDi, only to get slaughtered in nullsec. On top of it, several nullblocs had spies in the fleets, being able to tell the camps who to take down first (FC's). So to the inexperienced it might look like the FC abandoned them
Edit: link to the IC report of the live event Posting again as it's a new page, so more visible to people reading the thread and want to know more about the event itself. |

Thank you for your reply, while one cannot truly say that the actions of these High Fleet Naval commanders being incompetent rather than treasonous is a relief, It lets all new Eve citizens sleep a little better. We hope that these commanders however will be replaced with those who have some knowledge of the wars in EvE and basic stellar cartography. Those responsible for so many Tragic deaths deserve to be forced to build a monument at Doril in Memorial to those brave souls who perished to uphold the Freedom we all love.
Many of us who only survived only due to the incompetence in the preparation of the transit routes and spent our time in 'in between space' Unable to help are wracked with survivor guilt. We would feel vindicated at least in part Should we know they will not be forgotten. Even though their lives were spent in vain.
Thank you for your reporting that must have occurred at great personal risk.

Pipe systems are notorious for camps and I do believe the Syndicate force went down a pipe. That said, 8V- is one of those systems on its own, and Syndicate lies very close to CFC regions. Some Goons based out of Syndicate and we decided we were close (one bridge away) enough to drop by and join in the fun. |
