I fly a Hoarder at the moment. I just made it through a gate that had 28 kills in the last hour and I have no idea how, despite the 4 losers locking on to me, I made it through.
So now, no more procrastinating on my module acquisitions. What type of loadouts are you guys using to prevent your industrial from being waylayed by pirates at a gate or anywhere else along your route? I was thinking target jammers to prevent them getting a lock before I can get to warp. There are other ways though and I'm looking to find out what works best. Thanks.

Instas should be your first priority. Then shuttles to scout ahead.
For ship modules, fit nanofibers, the best AB/MWD you can afford and WCS. I'm not a big fan of overloading with cargo expanders as they will make you more vulnerable.
For small runs, I'm a big fan of the Probe. Probe and shuttles are great for most courier missions. |

Edited by: Hillesumos on 13/02/2006 10:32:37 Hi drostan,
As stated by nuri, instas are life saver in theses situations since you basically land right to the gate and insta warp. You do not want to use target jammers since it is considered an act of agression and you are lock in the system. If you want some form of passive defence, you might want to invest in a cloaking device but it is rather expensive and should be use sparingly.
Nano and AB are also a must if you have to make a run for it. MWD might be even better. Again you do not want to fit any cargo extender since you want speed and agility as a top priority so you can warp away very quickly. Also, as stated, probe is a nifty little ship for trade run. Cheap and plenty of room for some profitable cargo runs. I am experimenting with its big brother the gallente exqueror and so far it look nice too.
Theses techniques only work for low sec space not so much for 0.0 space where wcs and instas are a must and it take more gut to survive.
Take care and have a safe journey in space. ---------
Sadly I just make ISK, I don't print it. :(

All stabs or all nanofibre. MWD if possible, AB if not. Shield extenders all the way. ----------------

Cloak, nanos and AB.
Cloak is a life saver, but you will get locked and scrambled after coming out of cloak while building speed to enter warp. Thus the nanofibers to reduce that time frame. Most low sec campers arent geared out for instant locks so your best hope is to get into warp before they tackle you.
MWD will increase your signature and make locks faster I believe, so I would stay away from them.
The end affect is once you load out for low sec you loose a ton of cargo space. Meaning it is just as profitable to trade in high sec with more space then low sec with less space (depending on what your trading of course).
Another possibility is to load up on defenses and pray you can tank the damage until the sents drive them away.
