What a dickhead! You use to so cool. In the 1980s.
Tom Cruise says his job is as hard as serving tour in Afghanistan, being an Olympic track star: report
Please Tom go to Afghanistan. Make your next movie there.
Oh yeah as for the Olympics, couch jumping is not an Olympic event. |

This reminds me of a certain NFL star who, during the recent war in Iraq, said that they "go to war" for us every Sunday. That statement was received about as well. |

well its almost as bad as a certain musician from a certain band who in the late 60's claimed they were "More popular than Jesus" and if you dont know who I am talking about do your self a favour and go get and read a book on pop culture.
What tom said is still sickening and Its still wrong but the Jeasus remark is still at the top of my list with this being a close second.
oh and BTW I am not old enough to have actual heard the quote first hand I just recall it form a TV special I seen once |

It was a true statement. People do not like the truth. He did not say "better than". Only 25% of the religious worshipers in the world are actually Christian, so it's no lie to say that Allah and Buddha are more popular than Jesus either. Much, much more popular.
Christian spokesmen pointed out that Lennon had only stated what the church was itself saying about Christianity's decline at the time.

This person we're talking about got mixed up with a certain group of people that make him uncool anyway. You know, the kind that take your money and then lie to you.
Don't really care what he says.

I can't really wrap my head around as to why he would drag the Beatles/Jesus Thing (which even my Baptist Deacon of a dad (RIP) dropped back around 1992) into a thread about Tom Cruise anyway.

Reading the relevant excerpts of the deposition shows that Cruise's comments reveal a different story.
The comments come in a section of the deposition where Cruise is being asked about time he has spent away from daughter Suri, either because of film or other commitments.
"Now your counsel has publicly equated your absence from Suri for these extended periods of time as being analogous to someone fighting in Afghanistan," opposing counsel asks him. "Are you aware of that?"
"I didn't hear the Afghanistan," Cruise replies. "That's what it feels like and certainly on this last movie it was brutal. it was brutal."
"Do you believe that the situations are the same?" Cruise is asked.
"Oh come on," Cruise says, "you know, we're making a movie."
Cruise's attorney, Bert Fields, tells CNN in a statement, "Headlines stating he equated his job with those in the military are demonstrably false. They are a distortion of what is provable and on the record."
"Tom is a staunch supporter of our troops and does not feel that making a movie is even remotely comparable to fighting in Afghanistan and said so in plain English," Fields said.
Tom Cruise did not make widely reported claim that acting is as tough as combat
This whole thing was just TMZ shilling the Public for more ad dollars. |

I like the idea- it's so crazy it could actually work.
Send Tom Cruise to Afghanistan to convert all the Taliban to Scientology and see what happens...

Turns out they love the idea and jump on in order to kill everyone who thinks otherwise! Scientology uses it's money to make all the Taliban American citizens!!! |

I ******* hate Tom Cruise....I loved him Tropic Thunder though.... but I hate the ******* media even more.... the worst part is that TMZ is operated by a ******* lawyer and he knows how to subvert the truth with little recourse to those he slanders

Yeah. I absolutely do not support Mr. Cruise and his 'religious' activities, and I feel he has sucked in every movie he's done since the 80's except for that psychotic turn in "Magnolia". But the lying, twisting presentation methods of TMZ and all that is just even more appalling imho. My only regret about Tom Cruise is that he was in Eyes Wide Shut. Since it was a Kubrick film I had to see it, and therefore see Tom Cruise. Any other movie of his I've been pretty managed not to have to look at. At least not all the way through, from start to end. \o/ |

I think Kubrick is a God, of course, but I'm not sure what could have saved that film. "He has mounted his hind-legs, and blown crass vapidities through the bowel of his neck."-á - Ambrose Bierce on Oscar Wilde's Lecture in San Francisco 1882 |

I've never seen a film packed with so much obviously weird stuff, and yet still remained so pointless and uninteresting.
Like how every single Christmas Tree in the film, no matter if it was a huge one in a mansion, a medium one in an office, or a tiny one on a desk somewhere, they all were decorated exactly alike with the same colored lights and no ornaments. I mean, what was the point of all that ?
