Since there is no search function worthy of mention, this might be a repeat.
How secure is the EVE Character Manager (ECM)? It asks for your username and password which automatically makes me leery. Does anyone have any experience with this program?

You can allways use the manual login mode...

It is safe, have been using it since day one. And I have also monitored traffic sent and it is only talking to the EVE servers.

Great, thanks.
While I'm at it, if I enter my credentials when I launch the program, will I be able to use it to any degree when not on my own computer (i.e. at work without an EVE installation)?

You'll be able to monitor your skill training progress, but you can't change/start skills through it; that can only be done through the EVE client. ____________________

Yeah you will still be able to see your skills, isk etc and such.
But basicly you can do that via the myeve webpage as well. And yes it works without an eve installation.
as ^ said, it lets you monitor, nothing more.

Can I see training times for upcoming skills as well? Can't see that through MyEVE. I.e., say I have Cruiser 4, can I see how long it would take me to train Cruiser 5?

It is very secure, I never lost anything except that my ISK was all gone and all characters deleted. So no sign of tampering
Seriously, no problem at all, and I've monitored outgoing traffic too for a while just in case.
It DOES tell you how long you'll have on "future" skills, and you can even queue things up so you see how long it'll take until you can fly the <whatever>. Best of all, if you simply add the required skill for <whatever>, all skills it depends on are added to your queue. Sadly that queue is not updated in EVE, you still have to switch skills manually.
I also recommend ShipFit that nicely shows how your skills affect the ship in case you ever wonder why you waste all that time . Some bugs are involved and the ship list is not current, but it's still pretty nice.
