At least the Veteran's Day Parade in San Francisco this year was highly Korean War-centric.

Current yearly birth rate means nothing I guess. About 4 mil. Same order of magnitude. Out of which children of more or less recent immigrants tend to be the more numerous on average per family. Currently about 1/8 of the population are "1st generation Americans" (a.k.a. immigrants), and an additional 1/4 of the total is 2nd generation American (i.e. kids of immigrants). That's pretty much 1/3 of the population that it's basically guaranteed to have no direct line relation whatsoever to any American Revolutionaries, and we weren't even looking at 3rd gen (grandkids of immigrants).
I would poke more holes in this and try to explain to you what you are missing, but if you don't get it already I doubt you would understand anyway.
So I'm not gonna waste my fingers >.< |

I'm NOT saying those people are "not Americans" nor any other such nonsense.
Quite the contrary, actually, some of the 1st generation immigrants are probably "more American" than quite a few Nth generation ones, and pretty much the same for a lot of the 2nd generation ones. And yes, not every last 2nd generation child is born from two 1st generation immigrants, a sizable portion might be born from one immigrant parent and somebody else with a few more "local" generations behind them, but if you look at the 3rd generation, whatever exceptions you get from the 2nd generation is sure to be more than compensated for with 3rd generation people. And it is quite conceivable there could be some 5th or even 7th generation "Americans" that have no direct line "original American" ancestors.
Bottom line, about at least a third of the country's population is almost guaranteed to have no direct line ancestors that lived in the American colonies during the independence war. No more, no less. No implication. No morality. No superiority nor inferiority. Simply ancestry and nothing else. http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/User:Akita_T Build your own EVE PC http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=1559734 |

You took a swing but you completely missed the point. It's ok though because I too am not talking about superiority / inferiority. I am also neither English or American.

The funny thing is how the marines converted from men who climbed out of combat to take shots at the heads of boarding enemies to the full frontal assault units that they are today
P.S. As a proud member of a community within the United States of America the enemy is not the head of state but those that got him and the previous head of state into their positions. The worst encroachment on the rights of the citizens of the USA was perpetrated under the 'conservative' government headed by a president that got their position based upon nepotism just saying Mr. The President is a traitor. |
