I am a few days away from being able to pilot a retriever.
I am going to go with 2x strip miner in high slots. They are 12000 CPU each with a 98% discount for barges.
By my calculations that is 240 CPU each, while my barge will only have a total of 120...obviously this is not the correct figure.
What is the actual amount of CPU a strip miner I takes?

It's either 60 or 80, I don't recall off the top of my head. ----------

Thanks Zeph.
Anyone have the exact amount though?
I am trying to see if I can fit a miner augment and a shield extender.

I used to mount 2 strips, small boost, small extender and nanos. You probably won't have enough spaace to 'tank' as such. Frig mods only i think.
I have some sort of genetic defect that makes my sigs too big :( |

If I were in-game I'd check for you, but I'm pretty sure it's 80. I seem to remember my old alt's retreiver needing 160 for two.
If you want to know for sure, load up QuickFit (if you have it) and set it up there. If you don't have QuickFit, do an Eve-search for it and download it, awesome program. I'd do it for you, but I'm at work at the moment :\ ----------

Im working on doing this as well, what is the number on miners that says how much the mining amount is? Is this per second? or per minute?
Strip Miner says this
mining amount 540 Ore units
Sorry for the N00b question, but i have been looking for info on this all day and have not been able to find what im looking for.

540 units every 180 seconds for strip miners. That is before any bonuses are applied. If you fit them on your mining barge, then right click on them and "show info" while flying the barge in space, you'll see the amount you get per 3 minutes with all your skills and bonuses factored in. ----------

I have Quick Fit , but it does not work for calculating strip miners
If anyone else has time to check, would appreciate.

Zeph, what is it for Miner II's ? does the per 180 seconds apply to them as well?

That is correct ----------

No, Miner II's cycle time is 60 seconds.
If you "show info" on the miner, it will show you the amount it mines (in m3) and the amount of time it takes to mine that much (cycle time).
So, Miner II's without skills are 60m3 I believe, so you get 60m3 per minute per laser.
Skills can increase this though, such as ship bonuses (Like the Osprey), mining skills (Such as Mining, Astrogeology, etc), and modules (such as the new Mining Links [or whatever they are called, I don't recall]). ----------

The strip miners on my Retriever use 60 CPU, so its 99.5% reduction in CPU needs, not 98%.

I can fit the following on my retiever:
two strip miners in the high slots a roid scanning in the mid an armor rep and armor plate in the lows
or
two strip miners inthe high slots nothing in the mids a named cpu and a mining upgrade in the lows (barely)
When ganged, I get 915 m^3 per cycle (3 minutes) each laser for a total of 1830 - this is without the mining upgrade as .5 rats eat my shields.
I have the following skills: Electronics III - increases CPU by 5% Energy Management II - increase cap capacity by 5% Engineering III - 5% increase in power grid Mining IV Mining Foreman IV Astrogeology IV
Hope this helps,

Did they make weapons upgrades skill effect mining lasers with RMR? I remember it not effecting it pre RMR but one of my corpmates claims they now do.
