Is there anywhere I can go to find out what ships are useful in end game pve/pvp and which to stay away from?
Are ships that are effective in pvp effective in pve without changing the setup?
Is there a use for the smaller faster ships in fleet pvp or is it all big slow ships beating on each other?
Thanks

Self experience and exploration. Each ship has a role, a possibility, and a counter. This is not your typical MMORPG in which the paladin is always going to tank and the priest is always going to be on the backlines. Adapt your setup, ship, and tactics for the situation you plan on engaging. Quote: Are ships that are effective in pvp effective in pve without changing the setup?
Some ships and some setups, yes. But just about any ship has that capability so long as there is a smart pilot behind the controls. Quote: Is there a use for the smaller faster ships in fleet pvp or is it all big slow ships beating on each other?
Locking down larger ships so that they can not run away. Engaging a larger ship with a fleet of smaller ships because you move faster than the larger ship's weapons can track. Scouting areas and gates.
Keep this formula in mind next time you ask about the "best" or a similar idea in EVE:
25% of this game is ships and loadouts. 25% of this game is your character skills. 50% of this game is your knowledge of EVE and your tactics as a pilot. --------------

Simply isn't possible. You can't buy and understanding of EVE game mechanics on ebay. Your joke is referring to the skills and modules avalaible to the character, not the knowledge of the player when it comes to fleet tactics, game numbers, formulas, tricks, and theories. ------------------- "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." - Charles Darwin |

THere's your problem right there - there is no end game in EVE. There is no such thing as a 'best' ship nor a 'best' character.
As a poster said below the game mechanics only make up 50% of doing well in EVE, the other 50% is down to pilot knowledge, understanding and execution of those two things.

No you missed the joke lol. He was implying that the OP had already bought the account off eBay and now just wanted to buy the game experience...

QFT.
Even if your personal end-game is to get a battleship and load it compltely with t2 gear, if you don't understand weaponry counter-measures, weakness balancing, turret tracking formulas, and war tactics then I could bring a vanguard omen and get completely under your guns, avoiding all your damage and dishing everything I have onto you.
The same idea applies to NPC hunting. I can take a punisher and solo 0.0, even against the battleships with frigate interceptors. Why? Tactics. I know the formula for capacitor so that I can plan my tanking to the edge. I know the formula for transversal velocity so that I can manually orbit the ships initially to avoid gunfire until I'm at my orbiting 'sweetspot'. I know my limitations in the ship I fly and more importantly the limitations in my own tactics. Larger, better, faster, stronger, more expensive, is a great personal end-game goal. But to rely completely on ship and modules alones is a quick path to an unexpected death. --------------

I wouldn't entirly agree with that, 1 on 1 nothing could beat some of the capitals if the pilot has maxed out skills in everything but I don't think anyone has or will ever get to that point.

Gallente is the most popular race for pvp, since they have the highest damage and not many disadvantages. They use alot of cap so they fit a cap injector. They generally have good slot layouts and focused ships too.
