It's possible.
It's just not worth it. You'll lose A LOT more ISK than the frieghter pilot.

Not nessisarily true if the frieghter is killed then he stands to loose billions if he has a cargo bay full of goodies..
but why you would want to do it besides griefing/being a **** remains to be questioned since frieghters dont leave a can!! basically making it pointless to blow them up, unless they are your enemy in which case presumibly you'd have a war decleration out on them so wouldnt need to result to such lame tactics.

Its not impossible but you are looking at around 20 bombergeddons, and then you have to set it all up so they don't blow each other up. And then theres the problem of picking up its cargo aswell.

Try this, very very rare that this will work though -
Make an alt you can play with at the same time as your main. Put him into a corp he makes and declare war on said corp. Then, find the freighter pilot and invite him to join a gang. If he acceptts, your main can now attack the freighter anywhere, as he is in a gang with a warring member. Bwaha ---------------------------

Exactly, you'd gain nothing from suicide ganking one. ---------------------------

Edited by: Viper11 on 02/03/2006 20:18:58 ^^^^^^^ (edit: ohh din't think of gank ravens with rage torps, hmm lets assume each rage torp his for 1100, then you could go with 30 tech II fitted gank ravens)
Well first off killing the freighter wonĘt gain you anything, as they donĘt drop cans.
Secondly a freighter has around 125,000-190,000 hp (depending on skills), in a gang of 40 you will need to put out about 6000 dmg before you all die.
I would expect if you actually wanted to do this with any chance you go for about 50 people in tech II fitted, tempests (other bs's could work, but tempest is king of burst dmg). If you did this each gun (300 of them) would need to do a average of around 650 dmg, to insta pop it, I would suspect few ships would get off a second volley, but enough to make up the dmg needed by bad hits, and any misses.
Oh, if you do this, make sure you fraps it :D

I doubt it would take even that many. They have alot of HP yes, but no hardners or shield boosts, etc.
Oh does concord still spank you if all those 115 Tempests were to cloak after their volley?
Anyway, if you really wanna suicide your freighter in 0.5 space hit that little self-destruct button and invite everyone in local to watch the fireworks and laugh at you

I'm thinking either the server or everyones computers will crash from the sheer amount of concord that would be spawned as a result of 50 odd pilots!

Yes, its considered an exploite attack someone in .5+ and not lose your ship. So im pretty sure they will see through your cloak.

Even with squat resists you've got 90,000+ hull to go through. Thats a lot of damage to deal and at most your going to get 2 volleys off with tempests, maybe three with torp ravens. The cost to kill the freighter is going to be similar to the cost of the freighter + cargo. It's not worth it.

Ok then. Just put massive amounts of trade goods in a jet can near a gate. The freighter man won't be able to resist the temptation seeing a jet can full of Robotics

Ok how about luring a bunch of Mission spawned NPCs over to the gate and then giving freighter-man some bump lovin

Pair of newb questions...
1. If a freighter doesn't leave a can, does it leave anything? I'm guessing that all the cargo is exploded, if the freighter is downed.
2. Where is this documented? (imho, the info pages should have this and other things like, where dreadnaughts can and can't fly...but that's me).

Persistent bumpage is considered an exploit if you keep it up for long enough. And even still, you are talking high sec, so frigates. It would take hours, if not days. And the npcs wouldn't have scramblers in 0.5, so the player could log off.

1. Are you serious?? 2. If so it would take many bs/tacklers. 3. You would lose more than the freighter would.

hey hey,
u could try getting the pilot to self destruct. then it would just take 2 to kill a freighter in empire
1st to self destruct 2nd to provide the scam/insurance/convincing.
thinking outside the box since 1973.
