Hello and good evening Eve Community,
I'm usually hanging in an in-game channel where 2-3 newbies join the game every day.Among the most common questions they ask is about skills, what skills to train?
So we reply with a question: "What skills do you currently have?"
and they answer: "How do we show our skills we currently have to you?"
and then we redirect them to Chribba's EveBoard, explaining how to visit the Eve Online site, how to find API key screen, how to create one,how to register their characters to EveBoard and which options to choose etc. etc.
The problem is this process can take up to 20 minutes.
My solution is: CCP should make an option on API key page saying: ADVANCED:"Do you want to add your character to Eveboard.com?" (?)<--- when mouse hovers over the question mark,a text should appear explaining what EveBoard is.
And then when you click yes, there should appear a dropdown checkbox menu which allows you to select what to add and voila! The newbie's profile is added to EveBoard and we can help him easier and faster.
I've done some research on whether this idea was proposed before or not and I couldn't find something similar to this.
Now now,I'm not suggesting to reduce this game to dull simplicity, but, this would enable us veterans to help newbie players on their skills easier.
I'm sure it isn't impossible for the programmers to do this.It only takes a little co-operation of CCP and Chribba. I'm waiting for an input, either by CCP or Chribba.
p.s: I'm sorry if I couldn't articulate it perfectly but you get the idea.
With all my respect, LordOdysseus If fire doesn't solve your problem, you're not using enough. |

I have a counter proposal, one I think would be easier.
In much the same way that we can link the fits of our ships, why not allow us to link our character sheets, in whole or in part? |

EveBoard is a 3rd party application, meaning there will most likely never be an ingame feature directly linked to it.
What Danika proposed should be more doable. |

Not full character sheet, but either full skill tree or any one branch of it (Navigation, Spaceship Command etc.) or a single skill. Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks. |

I definitely agree that being able to share stuff like that in game would be a boon.
Honestly, there's a large number of things third party tools are used for that would benefit EvE to just be in the client. This is among that list along with being able to set up skillplans and theorycraft fits. |

The fact that people think of eve-board first and about intuitive stuff second really shows how backwards EVE sometimes is and makes people to be as a consequence. |

I'm sorry to write a 2 months late reply. My intention was not to re-ignite(or bump) this discussion but to appreciate everyone who participated in this topic with their inputs. They were really eye-opening and things I haven't thought in detail.
I started playing this game in January 2008 and it was already a very advanced game then.Even though I took some years of break periodically, every time I returned, this game blew my socks off(in a good way).
I know that when the need arise,CCP will implament my or the repliers proposition to the game,so I'm not in worry anymore, not one bit.
Last but not least,I want to give my thanks to everyone who made and still make this game the best MMORPG ever made, player or CCP staff.
Have a nice day everyone, o7 /LordO
