Edited by: Dumus on 04/03/2006 11:50:06 Ok I have noticed a few threads now where peeps are whinging and whining about how CCP just want our money.
To be frank this is ticking me off! CCP IS A BUSINESS. They exist to make a profit. ThatĘs what a business does. I am enjoying paying CCP for the services they are providing me. I have even taken out another new account because of the Power of Two offer. I did this with a happy heart, knowing I am getting great value for money.
The servers have been intermittent with this new (FREE) patch and the service is suffering. Do you honestly think CCP staff donĘt give a ****? I have a pretty good idea that the staff are working really hard to get the service levels to a high standard. GIVE THEM SOME CREDIT!
CCP is the only game company I know off where the DEV's and GM's are as passionate about the products they sell, as the customers they SERVE.
For Gods sake take a look at all the info we are provided with in the form of patch notes, dev blogs, and dev input on these very forums.
CCP are making money from me and I am glad they are. I get many many hours of entertainment from this game and its worth every penny.
Finaly, I hate as much as the next person, brown nosing post's but I am getting tired of seeing people whine about how CCP are out to rip them off in some way. They so clearly are not.
SUCK IT UP and give them a break and then, thank them for all the hard work!

p.s. please get the avatars sorted CCP or I will cry and stamp my feet!

Edited by: Wild Rho on 04/03/2006 11:50:54 One of the biggest differences I've seen in CCP is that they as a whole actually give a damn about their game instead of seeing it as a means of milking cash from people before letting it die and moving on.

Its not that they are not working.. is just another case of rush it and we'll test it on the live server when its done.
I also got another account, I am also giving money to CCP. I like this game very much. I don't like that patch after patch the same problems arise.
When does the Q&A guy makes a blog about the patching process?

Maybe they should take a few days off after a rollback and then deliver quality work and test their stuff thouroughly instead of just adding more and more broken content?
And after testing and fixing it, you have to check that it does what it is supposed to do again. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

I agree to a certain extent. But let me play Devil's advocate - CCP is a business, true. One of the things that successful businesses need is high quality customer support and customer communications.
I don't think CCP themselves would claim that they are doing a stellar job at either of these; they do communicate, but it's patchy and incoherent (stickies in the forums/dev blogs/motd at the login screens).
I've a petition outstanding for three weeks today; I don't think that's acceptable customer service. The main reason that it's not is that CCP aren't communicating with me about the delay. I can speculate that they're busy with higher priority issues; I can even be sympathetic about the workloads they must be handling at present. But leaving customers hanging is poor business practice. Now, it's only a game, sure. But I still pay real money for my three accounts. Therefore I think CCP are going to have to re-examine their customer support process. It's very clear that they are suffering growing pains.
In conclusion, I do think people should be civil; businesses are staffed by real human beings after all.

seems to be the one who complain the patches were rushed onto tranq that are never on the test server. if more people got on the test server once in a while, less problems would arise.

If CCP was only out to make money then they would not keep making patches are payed for by the monthly subscription, they would start calling the patches expansions and charge for people to upgrade (se WoW as an example).
Naturally however I want CCP to clear a nice profit because if EvE ever started going in the red then a shutdown date would soon follow.

There was allot of testing went on before. Many many bugs do not show up until itĘs rolled out a server that has a large population. CCP are working hard to fix issues. This is a long term game and if you lose a few precious hours of your game time (without wanting to sound flamey) then Buuu huuu. CCP want you to be enjoying there game. Give them a bit of time and credit.

Edited by: Niiro Hanzo on 04/03/2006 12:03:33 Well. I hate Lucasarts and SOE. They are both scum who release crap games and Lucasarts in perticular sells games not because they're good but because of the brand the control.
CCP is their opposite. EVe is a Great game. It has great guys/girls managing it. They care and give us nice and free expansions/updates. Hence, I love CCP =)
*edit* There IS a reason why EVE has been on the top among the ranked games at mmorpg.com.

It's funny how people complain no matter what the standard is..
I play Neocron on the side.. The customer support there sucks *******s, the game is buggy as hell and rollbacks are your every day issue.. CTD? Once an hour or more..
EVE is to me problem free, having an issue or two here and there isn't a problem, it's what we call a "human factor" and I'm not gonna start yelling at someone for being human.
Yet it seems that both games have the same amount of whine.. Odd isn't it, some of you can never be happy and you project it onto CCP

I'm going to be frank about this, CCP only has one game and one game only, their business and employee payroll is derived off our monthly fee's.
CCP isn't making money off new game titles and isn't in the works of making any new titles anyway, thank god, becuase game companies that do make additional titles don't constantly update their games and don't add new content. Three cheers for CCP and lets help them out by not complaining when constallations go down because of a server instability where they probably have 20 techs with a lead tech working on right now.
Peace

Two corrections:
- Businesses exist to maximize their shareholder's returns. Maximizing profits is not always conducive to this. - The patch is definitely not (FREE). Although we did not pay a one-time fee for it, we have and continue to pay for it in our monthly fee.
But, yeah, I agree with your post. I find it appalling that so many people think making a buck is something to be frowned upon. This is especially puzzling since EVE itself is all about that.

The content is free. Checkout how other games charge for expansions. Whilst we do pay our monthly fee CCP consistently release new content. Much of which is ideas coming from the very community it serves. I am just a bit peeved that people are so fast to spit out their dummy's as soon as there is a problem. Hence my post. I am sorry if others do not see it this way.

Up to this point I thought CCP was a charity organization providing whiny people with a forum they could whine on. Just like you are doing now.

Nothing is free, we pay a monthly charge. Without the updates people would stop playing.
I love the game and what ccp do, but the QA needs a big improvement. They need to invest more in testing. Yah, I appreciate its not an easy task, but it will be money well spent. In most industries the staff would be fired for releasing code as unstable as some of the eve patches are.

I'm sorry you only see it that way as well. If it was free I wouldn't have to pay my monthly fee to play it now would I ?
This is a non-issue, CCP does not do it because they're nice or because they particularly like you. They do it because they think (and probably made quite some studies on the subject) this is the best business aproach to make the most profit.

And your point is? If people want a second account the'll get a second account, if they don't want one they won't. I don't see the problem here. The only thing the new bloodline offers is a new look, and if you want that you could just create an alt and have them transfer the portrait to your main for a measly $10.
I've been thinking about a second account for a long time now, and $50 for 6 months of game time is a really good deal so I went ahead and opened my P^2 account yesterday. Looks like I'm just a stupid sucker for marketing ploys huh? Or maybe I simply wanted a second account.
