Why is it every time they do a patch we have to suffer from side effects for weeks? I am quite upset. Before the Blood patch (which seems to be really bloody) the new servers were so fast and everything was so stable. Now that CCP has the old server farm for testing there should be a way to detect memory leaks and other stupid software errors upfront. Actually finding memory leaks and doing performance analysis is the responsibility of the developer up-front before even giving code to the testers, no need to mention the deployment. There are so many tools to analyse performance and also just inspecting code gives you already good hints. Maybe the platform CCP choose does not have these tools but I don't care. I want to have a similar stable and fast system as it was just befor the Blood patch. Currently when I log in the solar-system crashes (sometimes). And this is not the first time. The same happened yesterday and the day before. I don't care putting a useless bug-report for this since CCP should notice that some server-software cores ....

You know, at first I was in full support of the people griping 5 seconds out the gate, even as HippoKing made it his self-imposed pretentious duty to troll any thread that said bad things about the patch. Dark Shikari too.
...Now I find myself agreeing with them, good LORD shut UP, it's being WORKED ON.

It was fine before the patch. The cluster upgrade was really great and smooth.

They will soon iron out the worst bugs and everyone will be happy again, just takes a little time.
This is exactly the same as every patch I have seen so far.

If you know of a failsafe way of testing a system that supports ~20,000 users over about 100 servers without actually having 20,000 users, I'm sure that CCP will be happy to hear from you. Singularity is not and can never be Tranquility. Most of the time it only has about 60 people on it. And writing a testing system that attempts to simulate 20,000 users as chaotic and unpredictable as the citizens of EvE is not a task I'd like to attempt.
Of course, if you're an expert in developing massively multi-user applications in stackless Python I defer to your wisdom.

What do fan boys think they get, by kissing CCP arse? Do you think they say, "Look, that guy told people to stop whining", or, "Hey, that guy said we are doing a good job, we better give him a free subscription, or send him a free computer". All you suckers out there, happy with whatever someone gives you, I have my old computer for sale. It has been out in the weather, and a family of cats live in it, but you will like it, because I told you to.

The current patch status isn't fine, but the topic that you chose for this thread sucks too. ___________ 'Only ships can be assembled, this is a Frigate.' |
