With the Rubicon update, CCP sneaked in a patch note revealing that all hisec exploration sites now spawn in lowsec as well. Ever since, the 4/10 and 5/10 DED sites that used to be my primary source of income have been almost impossible to find. I have not found one single 4/10 or 5/10 site since Rubicon went live. It used to be that the more risk you took, the more money you could potentially make. Hisec exploration involves almost no risk, and therefore yields very little money. Lowsec exploration, being probably even more risky than null, would yield significantly more valuable loot than hisec. Now, every site I find is 3/10 or less, and my money making has come to a complete standstill. What is the point of exploring in an extremely hostile area if the money you make is the same as areas where you are perfectly safe? Interestingly, the patch notes say that the change was to encourage newer players to head into lowsec for exploring, but didn't they already do that when they disallowed T3 cruisers from entering 3/10 and 4/10 sites? This next step they have taken is going too far because not only have I not seen ANY noobish players in these sites but for older players like me lowsec exploration has become completely pointless. Any response CCP? |

The point of exploring in hostile areas it's the exploration itself. If you are not having fun then don't do it. If you want to have a stable source of income just run incursions or join a renter corp and farm anomalies.
I'm an explorer too and i don't understand why are you so upset, sorry. |

They are still there, and i would trust what CCP said, that the spawnrates of the prior complexes were not affected by adding the highsec stuff. The only complaint i have is some of the sig strengths of the 'new' sites in lowsec. scanning a combat site that might be a 5/10 and turns out to be a watch or vigil (i didn't actually check exactly which site was in which band) is .. a bit disappointing.
I guess what you are complaining about is that you now have more sigs to go thru and cba to run the 'hisec' sites. Which i can understand, but then again this is opportunity for some enterprising explorers in lowsec (just the same as 4/10s where the usual tech3 plex runners cannot get into and mostly ignore). |

Guristas Vigil seems to be a hilariously weak signal for such a lackluster site.

Pretty sure the major blow was the removal of DSP's and the introduction of 'sigs for jumping into system'.

This. CCP specifically said the spawnrate of existing lowsec sigs was not affected.
Most of these hisec sites i find I end up getting at 100% while my probes are still at 2au.
Also, I've heard that some of you guys were able to quickly figure out sig filtering right after Odyssey, even without the DSPs. Are you doing this with an initial scan of a 64au spread formation with combat probes? "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

Hard to see how CCP could "sneak" this in when they announced it with a DEV blog well before it was implemented. Either CCP sucks at sneaking or the OP is not willing to admit he can't pay attention. |

Absolute rubbish, ran a Serpentis Phi-Outpost last week in a 0.6 system and got a Corelum C-type hardener for it. Just for this terrible post CCP should move all 4/10's to low-sec.

The OP was always in lowsec, that won't exactly ahem harm the OP.
It does make a lot of difference to seeking optimal lowsec encounters, especially for people who didn't do that much in the old DSP days and weren't used to discarding signals based on bands.
However, finding serpentis 5/10 can be a chore regardless, ie its pretty easy for it to not be in the pocket of low you are checking at all. 3x in one day was from den escalations for me, and not from finding public sigs.

Can you explain to me the mechanics of band filtering? I had thought that was impossible since the removal of DSP's |

It still works. It just has more variance and is less accurate. You're more likely to misidentify a band by accident but it's still worth doing. I just use a single 64au probe but some systems that won't work in. Usually does though. |

I think I've said before that more things like warhammer onlines public quest system could be used in EvE. Although WAR was a flop their public quest idea was a stroke of genius and deserves recognition LP store weapon cost rebalance |

CCP probably not too keen about all the people that were farming those 4/10's before odyssey hit. In the three weeks prior to that upgrade (and the blocking of t3's going into 4/10's), I managed to hijack over 70 of the sites from other players, resulting in 18-odd billion in loot.
And now, I see the pithum c-type booster is only 150 mil, down from 400. wow. Glad I got out of that market. |

So... you're not wrong, but what does that have to do with low sec? No one was farming low sec 4/10s. |
