Seeing this right now. For new excitement, it's happening in the middle of the day! Traceroute times out between San Jose and LA, but was fine earlier. |

Same here. That connection should be going through LA and it's timing out. I'm "chatting" with Comcast right now to try to convince them that it's not my browser... |

I've got an escalation going with Comcast/Xfinity who "guaranteed" a 24 hour turnaround. (Note: To do this, you have to go through the normal tech support, then their level 2 support, then their Internet support). |

I'm up in Napa in the north bay. Mine doesn't even show the TQ status. It just launches in offline mode and says the status is unknown. Tried cycling the power on the modem/router to no avail. Reset the computer. Still nothing. Everything on the eve website works and I don't have any other problems anywhere on the internet. Eve offline says TQ is up.
I haven't had this issue until today. This is really frustrating I'm a single father and there are only so many hours in the week I have to squeeze in game time. CCP can we get some kind of response please? We can all bother Comcast but it would be nice to know if there is any information regarding this issue from CCP's side.

I'm in San Francisco on Comcast, having the same problem here all morning. If I start the EVE launcher it briefly says the server is "Online" but then quickly switches to "Status: Unknown" and says it's in "Offline Mode". I've tried rebooting my PC, Comcast modem, router, etc with no effect. As of 2:56 PM PST I am still unable to connect.
This has happened several times in the past and is obviously a recurring problem for Bay Area Comcast players, and is getting really frustrating. Has anyone been able to get any real answers out of Comcast or CCP about this at all?
edit: I also can't open support.eveonline.com so I am unable to file a support ticket with CCP about this. :( |

Thanks for the info. It's very interesting. I still can't make it to 170 (Still stuck in San Jose.), but the 195 goes through to CCP's servers. Just points to a static downtime page with some links in my browser. The URL doesn't resolve in the browser, so there's a name server implicated somewhere.
Amusingly, Comcast is sending a tech out early tomorrow. I can hardly wait to see how he or she fixes this problem from my unit, since, if the pattern holds, it won't exist. It seems level one support won't or can't escalate my issue right now. I think that this is because my modem shows "end-of-life" on their side and I'd guess that they're not allowed to escalate until everything looks "green." Really makes me wonder why I pay these guys. Anyway, if something comes out of that, I'll post again.
Hope we all get to fly (un)safely soon! |

Still unable to connect to Eve although the Launcher says that it is online. I can connect to the support page.
My knowledge of these things is limited but having trace route fall over at ibone level suggests to me that the routing tables are fubared. And the fact that it happened at noon suggests the possibility of a scheduled job.
It seems unlikely to me that ccp could manage to only misdirect traffic on the la backbone.
Given that it's 1:30am on Sunday morning in Iceland at the moment I highly doubt that anyone is going to look at this from there end until Monday. However my previous experience with Eve internet outages (which I'm not sure was the same thing) tended to clear up on its own within <8 hours or so. |

Is there anyway to get someone at Comcast to see this thread? Or to understand that this is a problem that is most likely on their end?
I talked to their live chat, but they "reset my router remotely" (because they don't believe that's it's not a problem on your end, understandable considering how many different types of problems and people they deal with), but after they do that they wait 4 minutes for you to come back. It took about 6 minutes for the reset to happen so they DC'd my chat with them....LOL ******* comcast...
Anyways, I'm just not sure if they actually understood that my problem was the same as everyone else (who they might not be taking seriously either). Is there a way to get across that this is a problem for a whole location (not on our end)?
EDIT: can a dev contact them if the problem is on their end and let us know? if the problem is on CCP can a dev let us know that it is being addressed? |
