I understand the rule of one bump per day, but why do you lock threads for 24 hours when the seller is simply replying to a question asked by a potential buyer?
Example - I put ad up for sale, nothing day one, day two i bump and get a hit, someone asks a question with potential to buy, i respond and you lock the thread citing the bumping rule.
Its really stupid and completely unwarranted and unnecessary. People are trying to sell stuff, and usually the question being asked will help others too.
Please respond. |

Maybe you used an alt to question something yourself, so its a
stealth bump.. |

Yeah I have a problem with this as well. I think the ISD is getting a little heavy handed on the bump rule. I saw one thread locked when the guy posted an offer he received via eve mail (Important information for anyone interested in purchasing the character) five minutes before the new day.
Apparently you are only supposed respond to offers and questions via eve mail. However, a lot of people buying characters are interested in multiple toons so responding to them in your thread helps remind them which character you are. Also the questions asked may pertain to other interested buyers. When someone offers me less than I want I should be able to respond, letting other buyers know what is not an acceptable offer.
Also a warning would be a nice courtesy.
Besides, the rule is ridiculous. An unfair advantage? Isn't that what EVE is all about? |

They get gigantic red skulls in their eyes, if you only think about unfairness in character market

They need to realise there is a difference between spam and pro active selling. If the comments are pro active to a sale and in response to a question, then its fair, it someone is perma spamming to get to the top, then it's a different matter. |

I was locked yesterday for the same thing. Used my bump, got a question after, and I answered. They locked my thread. I guess I was suppose to leave everyone in suspense for 18 hours. |

Completely agree. ISD are being a bit too harsh on the rules. But I guess it's a matter of too hard to figure out who are "stealth bumping" as mentioned before, and who are actually answering honest questions. |

Well its not hard, all they have to do is read what was written above the response, and use a little bit of common sense. |

Which overall they do do well, correct, but there is always room for improvement. |

Discussing moderation is prohibited.
That being said, the rules are pretty clear: 1 bump per day per thread by OP. Period. The only things that are specifically allowed beyond that 1 per day rule is: posting from each toon for sale once if you are selling several in 1 thread. posting the first bump the same day you started the post. Both the first post and the first bump can be on the same calendar day.
Here is the blurb that I use when I do that kind of lock:
Quote:24 hour lock due to rules violation: "7. You may only bump threads ONCE Per day. Date is determined by the date on the forum, not the date where you live. See this guide for more information on bumping." "26. This forum is for buying and selling of characters, you may reply to the threads with bids or questions regarding the character/s. All other posts are off topic and will be removed. Answering posts of this nature will be counted as your daily bump" Please limit bumps to 1 per day.
As you can see from that text, it is clearly laid out in the bumping rules.
If you have issues with me or any other ISD or the way we are doing moderation, please open a petition or report our post, I assure you we are watched by CCP and we do not make up rules, we just try to enforce the ones we are told.
