Hello all,
I would like some advice and also ask some questions.
I have been playing EVE for a few months now, not so much playing, but mainly just getting my skills up to a level where I can be self sufficient.
Round 1) I made a Caldari character and started off playing. I lost my ship and all of my possesions moving stations by some people who were gate camping. So I deleted this character because I lost all my money and items.
Round 2) I created a Minmatar character and a kind player helped set me up in low sec space as they said I would earn more money here. Well so far I have been killed by gate campers when trying to get into empire space, the rats in the belts kills me. So now I have run out of money and I am left with just my noobie ship in low sec space and I can't go anywhere without being podded or killed.
Round 3) I want to make an Amarr character who will mainly focus on PvE and PvP. But I also want to be self sufficient, mining etc. So what kind of stats should I go for when making my character?
I know the tutorial is lengthy, is it worth completing?
I really haven't had much luck so far in EVE, because I seem to be hitting brick wall after brick wall, but I am really loving this game too much to give up.
So any help to get me on my way will be much appreciated

If you want to go PVE and PVP you have to make a character with high perception and willpower. For a mining / production character you'd need intel/memory.
Damn, u had some bad luck. But stay out of low sec! Do missions for gods sake. Learn the game mechanics that way. Mine Omber or Kernite somewhere in +0.5. And don't delete a character so fast...

Ok, The tutorial is good to do if you are 100% newb. This is because it teaches you how to fly the ship, and do the basics. (if your getting podded in Low sec, then yea, you don't need it) *the missions though are worth doing*
Ok, your biggest problem, You are starting off in LOW Secruity space. It sounds like you are close to 0.0 space if you are getting gate camped trying to get back to safety.
Your best bet ( assuming you are mining ) is to start off in .5 space. Even better if you can find a system that is a "Dead End". This system will be less populated and easier to mine w/o the tough rats or ore theives. You can do even better if you find a system that is close to a .4 system. In .4 you can do some good ratting as well as better mining. Here though you need to watch out for Pirates as well. _______________
Happy Hunting and Mining, Put please, No Happily Hunting Happy Miners!

1) Do the tutorial, it is worth it. 2) Do the follow on storyline missions, they are very worth it for a new character. 3) Don't fly anything you can't afford to lose (particularly into losec). 4) Find yourself a good corp.
Respect for your determination :-).

Edited by: Schinoble on 06/03/2006 14:42:14 i've only been playing for just over 3 months now and i dont know how much money you can make in low sec by yourself coprless, but in empire space without the help of anyone in-game, only the lovely people on the forums i've managed to make 60mill isk.
I also have a brutix (25mill BC), vexor (4mill cruiser), a hauler and frig i also have 90% of the minerals needed to make a dominix, only need 60% of the zydrine and megacyte needed, so theres either a replacement for my vexor or a nice 50mill wage packet.
You really dont need to start off in low sec space to get a good start, a hint you can make a killing by refining your loot and making cruisers, buy a cheap BPC from the escrow, each thorax i make i get 6.6 mill probably could get more selling it in other places.

I've been playing predominately in hisec and have to date made about 700 million in about four months. Note that I have also lost about 300 million of that .

wanna pass us some tips and hints how to make so much money so quick?
The best way i found was to refine/mine, manufacture than sell.
Then theres the obvious good drops you get now and again, but the highest i've gotten for a loot item was 10mill, mostly they fall under the 1 mill mark.
