Edited by: Loki Caldaris on 06/03/2006 16:48:28 I've read a few post about Battle Cruisers hitting people from 180km for pretty monstrous damag. What is a good setup if I would like to do that? I'm not really liking the Caldari so far and keep hearing about how Gallente Ships are the best PvP. Can someone explain this also?

Long range guns Long range t2 ammo (100% range) 2x Sensor booster II's some tracking enhancers/computers.
simple as that.
Gallante have quite a few good pvp ships, but there really isn't a best ship faction ingame, it all depends on your style of play.

The best sniping battlecruiser is the Ferox and its T2 brother the Vulture because they both get optimal range bonuses (double bonus on the Vulture). To get max range you would fit 250mm Railgun IIs with Spike M ammo, and then the associated range boosting mods (sensor boosters, tracking computers, tracking enhancers). So if you want to do "monstrous damage" from extreme ranges, Caldari are pretty much your best bet.

Gallente ships would give you the "monstrous damage"

Please Explain, I'm not sure what the difference in damage is between Gallente and Caldari.

Caldari use missiles, and missiles take time to hit the target.
And missiles do less DoT.

Caldari shoot far, Gallente hit hard.
However thanks to damage mod stacking nerf and tech II ammo you now can also have Caldari hit hard, Gallente shoot far.
Both use railguns (range), both can use blasters (point blank uber damage). Caldari tend to have ships favoring railguns and missiles (hybrid optimal and missile bonuses), Gallente tend to have ships favoring blasters (damage and tracking bonuses).
Of course the mega is the best railboat in the game, but it's fairly pointless as a blastership atm whereas a Raven is undisputed King of close range combat, but is pointless at distances more than 50km...

Hmm I hadn't thought about damage mods. But I'm thinking even with damage mods, a Caldari rail ship will never outdamage a Gallente one. And a Gallente with range mods will never outrange Caldari. I'm guessing the best you could do is close that gap.
