The first level missions suck. I have joined the State War Academy and nearly all of the first missions are courier missions. Give me something to shoot at to at least show that I am in a war academy and not just an errand boy. Jeez, I've had more action on a morning paper round when I was at school.
When you pick up a data chip from Gallente space, I suppose it's the data from the scanners that you had to take in the last mission, you should be pulled out of warp by a couple of NPC Gallente agents and forced to fight to keep the data. At least that would provide a bit more action to this boring storyline.
So far, I've tried 3 different characters from 3 races and 3 different professions. Every one of the mission 1 storylines are the same, it's all espionage and nothing more. Come on CCP, surely someone in your team can dream up a few good stories to suit the professions that we decide on. Maybe later the missions get more interesting but it's not surprising that so few get that far when it's so boring to begin with.

Before you whine, have you tried picking a non-courier agent, like the kind that give kill missions?
This is like going to the lake and whining that there's no deer in the water.

Edited by: Bolderine on 11/03/2006 18:26:47 I got this agent from the tutorial agent. All of the other agents I've seen are not available to me. Is there some way of making them avaialable without having a high enough standing? This is a noob character who's only just finished the tutorial.
I'm not whining, I am just stating a fact that the agents don't represent the noob corps that you join. The first agent you get for a war school corp should give low level kill missions and such. It seems they all only give courier missions no matter what corp you join.

All new Caldari players get the same string of missions from their tutorial agent. After that, you'll want agents in the Security or Internal Security (though Intelligence is good too) division for kill missions.

After the tutorial missions, you get 1.00 faction standing, which allows you to work for basically any level 1 agent for any Caldari corp. This includes many kill agents (security, internal security, etc).

Some of the level 1 agents do. But you seem to have the idea that military academies never need anything transported, either...
Find a Security, Internal Security or Command agent and you'll get the kill missions you desire.
To find available agents:
Open your character sheet and click on Standings/Liked By. Then right click on "Caldari State" and Show Owner Info. Go to the Member Corps tab and click on the info icon for the corp of your choice. Go to the Agents tab, there are drop downs by department and each will show any agents "Available To You". The higher the quality, the better the payout.
You might prefer to work for Caldari Navy if you are a fighter, the bonus rewards would be better suited to you.

Great, I hope I can now get some gunnery practice in at last and kick some NPC butt.

A couple of things...
First you think that every military organization throws a gun at you and sends you out into combat? Naw. They usually have you running from here to there and stacking rocks. Think it's called boot camp or something like that.
Second, if you're doing that string of missions right after the tutorial, you might want to consider suffering through them. The reward on the last one is usually pretty good and can get you going well on your continued career of "I wanna blow stuff up - Ohh... explosions... pretty colors..."
