Like the factory fishing ships? Heh would be fun... just gobbles up the roids and leaves behind a polluted belt of rejected small roids. But nah that will never happen, too automanous.

I'd be happy if they'd just give me a legal macro to shunt ore into a jetcan.
I am opposed to macro-mining, I will always be opposed to macro-mining, I am in no way supporting macro-miners or ISK farmers or any other such low-life scum.
HOWEVER... I really hate having to pay fairly close attention to an activity as mind-numbingly boring as mining. I would very much like to be able to set myself up for auto-mining, and alt-tab out and work on other projects. I'd still have to keep half an eye on things, to know when the jetcan was full and to defend myself against rat incursions.
This is an honest question, not meant to spark a flamewar and NOT in favor of macro-mining: would it be so bad to have an automated jetcan-ore-shunting thingamajig?

why?
you are supposed to interact with the gameworld wich in a miners can concist of targeting a new can and activate mining lasers and to move the ore to the can for the oreth.... hauler to pick it up.

Well, there's not much else to automate.. And for that matter you're merely doing anything at all as it is and now you want to do even less?
Boost for a new way of mining that is interesting instead!

and no they dont hate miners. they love miners especially macrominers, everytime someone petitions macrominers they are back mining the day after.
as for ships you got barges and T2 Barges now and you even got mining upgrades modules and really fancy mining implants. i want a implant that gives my gang 50% more dmg like the mining bonus on a certain implant is.

Trying to save pirates all that time they waist on refining by doing it for them? I'm sure they'll appreciate it!
Next, we need a "automaticallypodseveryoneidontlike" module. That will help people get out to 0.0 space!! Do it now CCP!! --- --- --- ---

So you want to mine more in less time? Thus devaluing the minerals you sell. Ultimately not ending up any better off.
Miners need new content, not a way of unbalaning the existing markets.

Although a capital class mining ship would be cool it would no doubt be limited to low sec or 0.0 space and so be useless to to empire miners (which I assume maybe wrongly is most miners).
Perhaps CCP could think of new ways to gather resources that require some sort of input from the miner instead of the current drag and drop method.

Aren't you supposed to be playing SWG???
Anyway, the entire mining system of EVE needs a revamp, it has since beta...
But I don't feel like dredging all that up again...

Half the problem is that the existing mining ships are raking everything in and very little is left. All we need now is a ship capable of doing that faster to really screw things up. If CCP really hated miners, your desired ship would be in the game next patch.

The way materials are aquired needs to change. Problem is, this cannot be accomplished with a hotfix or a patch, significant changes would need to be made to the game design.
System wide asteriod belts for one. The list goes on and on...
Only after these significant changes can more fancy toys for the miners be released.Doing so now would really upset the balance of ships created vs ships destroyed.
EVE was designed primarily as a combat PVP MMO, not a crafting MMO. Anything that does not have to do with PVP was an afterthought in game design, hence the current mining system and R&D lottery, etc...
Combat PVP has way more headroom, hence the constant barrage, patch after patch of new weapons & tech for combat PVP. PVP balance can always be achieved.
EVE has become too big (subscription wise) IMO for the required changes to be made now... We'll have to wait for EVE 2... ------------------------------------------------ Current Hobby other than EVE

Linky
"Gas Cloud Harvesting - New Mini-Profession
Harvesting gas clouds will come into play with Combat Boosters as a main resource for their creation (as where minerals are used for ships & modules or ice materials are for player owned structures)."
More linky
"Asteroid belts as hidden environments - Exploration
Moving all static asteroid belts Exploration gameplay, a hidden environment model, where you explore to find the asteroid belts. This would also result in the asteroid belts moving into our Complex or (Dungeon) authoring system meaning more variety and danger can be authored into them. All ships would then have a native system scanner, worth crap (can't find ships or anything like that) and could find the basic veldspar belts almost anywhere, while better belts require better equipment - and of course to be in a region which actually has better ore quaility (This is NOT an Arkanor in Empire feature). Incidentally, this could further mess with macro's too."
"Comets
Harvest the comets for their resources, while being constantly hit by debris from the comet."
"System-wide Asteroid belts
New environment of asteroid belts spanning a whole solar-system."
Please people, it took me exactly 4 minutes to find this, it already shows all the planned ameliorations to the mining profession. They may not come soon but i'm sure some will be in Kali and it shows the Devs are thinking about it.

You're offering nothing interesting, no food for thought. First of all as someone already said it would devalue ore, second of all you're hardly going into details, and by posting a single line saying 'I need a bigger ship' you're hardly going to get the Devs to even consider your idea. Now i'm not a miner and tbh i don't care much for it, so the fact that i lack the most upto date knowledge means i'm not gonna argue much, but you DO have your new specialised t2 mining barges, and if you want a refinery, get an outpost. You're basically saying, introduce mobile refineries so that the 25+ outposts that have been built throughout EvE by now are going to become obsolete and useless. It's obvious it won't happen, people don't spend 30 billion getting an Outpost up to then have a new feature introduced that will nerf it.

Which would promote solo activities, something CCP is doing everything to demote, while promoting teamwork. To go cruising through 0.0 belts without any trouble and mining whole systems in 0.0 you get in a good team, that's what MMORPGs are for, also why you can't go around in a capital ship on your own, etc. ------------------------- Thou shalt be dispatched. |

YES BRING ON THE MINING DREADS!!!~
Capital Mining Lasers Specially made for dreads. Their Siege mode effects the lasers making them 6 times more powerful. Roids will simply split open and burst out all the ore.
Harvester Fighters Specially made for carriers. Piloted by young care bears, these ships operate autonamously. They can warp to a belt, mine a specific ore and bring it back to the carrier all on their own.
Capital Mining Super Weapon Specially made for Titans. Once activated it will create an anti-matter implosion near the Titan, sucking all the asteroids in the belt towards the focal point of the implosion. At the focal point a special reaction destroys all non-ore components of the roids leaving nothing but pure ore.
