With an orbital strike, does the faction I'm aligned to dictate what type of strike I can do?
I.E can I only drop railgun strikes as Caldari or can I do lasers or projectiles as well?
Can I mix guns? (I know this is typically a no-no for EvE ship fitting)
The reason I ask is that, as I understand it, projectile strikes (EMP) annihilate shields but nothing else, wheres rails do a wide area strike, and lasers do a focused strike. If mixed guns are possible, theoretically a net gain could be made if I use projectile to strip shields first, then follow up with lasers or rails. |

You can fire any kind of ammunition type as long as you have the right kind of gun for it (laser turret for laser ammo, hybrid for rail ammo and projectile for EMP etc.), regardless of your affiliation. And mixing different kinds of ammo to your guns would be redundant, as you can only fire one set of guns with one type of ammo at a time. Then you'll have to wait three minutes before you can fire a different type of gun. In your example, the shields of your targets would have already recharged fully by the time you can fire another type of gun again.

I'd really like to know how I can get my corp mates to assist me. So far I'm the only one from the Corp that's playing both games, and I'd like to know that I can call on my mates in EVE to have my back in DUST 514. |

Yes and no.
Let's say you have 4 lazors and 4 EMP projectiles. Your ground commander now has the choise of burning down tanks with the lazors, or nuking shields on a clustermess where your armor brawlers are working. The 4 lazors melt any tanks without remorse with their focused damage burst; more is just overkill in general. LIkewise 4 EMP melts any shields. |

I do believe you can only drop orbitals on factional matchs as the public don't need eve assist for the orbital but as you start a match if you could tell your corp mates the System your in , the planet and what district you will have no issue, the only thing is that if they could get there in time ^^ Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm not

Do you have to be in FW to help with strikes?

dcstar wrote:Do you have to be in FW to help with strikes? Yes, you have to be signed up for any of the militias, and then you can only provide bombardments to that faction and its ally(not sure about this part). For instance, if you sign up for Caldari or Amarr FW in EVE, you can provide orbital support for both the Caldari and Amarr side. Same for the Minmatar and Gallente, siging up for their FW lets you provide support for both Minmatar and Gallente FW battles.

Fair point, but if you happened to drag a mobile depot with you, you could switch your lazors into gatling guns for the maximum damage. It might be a bit tedious, but shouldn't be too hard to manage.

To keep the questions rolling, is anyone aware of a tool, web based or not that alerts you as to when matches are happening and in what region/planet/district in real time? |

So I can't say load dust on the ps3, find out where I am, send an alt there and just blanket the field at will with os's? What I am asking actually, is can I as an eve pilot go to one of the random systems a fight is taking place and just start firing at will? Or do I need to be in an FW and then have the os called from the ground |

1) you have to be in FW 2) you go to the planets district where battle take place 3) you hack satellite to communicate and connect to your allies on the field (you don't need hacking module) 4) when you have connection through satellite, Dust allies will be alerted, and they will have to manually give you precise coordinates to where to shoot (from lore stand point - you don't want to shoot your own dust mercs, or just miss do you?) 5) when you have the coordinates - you can shoot
6) after that satellite will be unavailable for 3 minutes 7) repeat from 3 |
