As the subject says, I have 3 questions about the Sentinel, they are:
What are they good at? From what I have seen they are like mini Curses with similar bonuses, I assume they are used the same way.
How can you fly them? I imagine I could fit it with some neuts a scram and some DDAs and tickle frigates to death if I want to solo it, but it seems like more of a gang ship.
And what is a good fit for one? Yea... ewar noob here help me out plz.
Thanks in advance |

Basically, they can "cripple" any turret based ship and possibly "shut down" any capacitor dependent turret ship.
Dianna Reed wrote:How can you fly them? I personally like to kite with them... staying just beyond scram/web range and chew targets down over time. I know a guy who took out 2 Enyos and an Algos in one engagement and won using this tactic. And I personally have taken on a few frigates in a Sentinel but bad range control on my part has gotten me killed (the reason I'm optimistic is that I lasted WAY longer than I should have at close range due to my Ewar effects).
Fast drones, long range missiles, and super fast ships are a concern as the fit I use has minimal tank and so-so fast speed. Flying smart is a big part of the fit.

You will probably kite most of the time if you are in a sentinel. The neuts are your only range control but the buffed range makes it a fairly easy to use ship now. Just watch out for LML boats.
I have a few unedited solo fights on my youtube channel. most of them are however with the old sentinel (before rebalance). The new sentinel is just better in almost every regard beside having a bit more mass.
just keep in mind that nothing will solo a sentinel (unless it is a direct counter, like for example a talwar). So be prepared to fight outnumbered. Rule of thumb: one scram on you is no problem in most cases, two scrams is certain death
it also works nicely for small gangs thanks to the buffed lock range. It is certainly no longer a niche ship as it once was. eve style bounties (done) dust boarding parties imagine there is war and everybody cloaks - join FW |

Alright and I am assuming against larger targets i can use the neuts and tds to get under it's guns right?
then wait for backup because of the "haha stop it that tickles" dps |

vs bigger stuff you still want to be far away a 18-20 km orbit, most turret based ships wont hit that far with close range guns under a optimal range disruption td
if they got long range weapons or lazors a good close orbit with tracking disruption script and they cant hit you. Or a wide 17 ish orbit if you fight a ship that has cap injection fits :D (this is vs medium guns) you also need a nice orbit until you kill drones.
you wont be able to take down BS or heavy tanked bc, cruisers as it will take ages and you got limited cap boosters and well they might have friends, so bring your own friends to and escale the battle like Asakai did :))

It's a amazing fleet ship and solo to BUT as people stated above, few people will solo you, most will refit to a cap injection +mwd to counter you, or they will blob you :D "Oh, you think nullsec is your ally. I dont fly them, but I have fought against them. They are death to turret/active rep ships.
The problem is - people get overconfident in them and they should not. They are paper thin. I've killed one with a active rep rail Incursus. I did not have him scrammed. It died with only an occasional gun cycle (shooting iron) and my single hobgoblin. He should have beaten me, but once I stopped moving and repping, he got overconfident. Its a nasty nasty little ship, but again - its paper thin. I'm probably typing on an iPad, which means the auto-correct is silly and fixing typos is a pain. I ain't fixing them. |
