Greetings fellow EVE players.
I'm grinding standings for a character that needs to be in nullsec soon.
I ran into an unexpected problem today. I could not finish a lvl3 mission. This mission was "The Blockade" by Sansha's nation. I normally deal with Sansha by undocking a missileship or droneboat. But the character I'm grinding on will never use drones or missiles, so doesnt have those skills.
The problem involves tracking disruption. In normal PvP the single disruption-guy dies horribly for wasting a midslot. 2 disruptors and I'm the one doing most of the dying.
In PvE I have no idea on how to deal with multiple disruptors without resorting to drones or missiles. I'm not dying to NPC's, but I cant shoot them either. In this case I decided to stop wasting my time and went to watch a movie. I'll probably igonore sansha missions for this character in the future.
What tactic would you recommend when faced with 5 sansha ships disrupting your tracking?

your options are limited. The blockade is a notoriously absurd mission when it comes to NPC ewar. If you can kill the ewar in the first wave or two it gets better.
Tracking disruption is also particularly crippling.
And NPC ewar isn't properly stacking penalized the way that multiple webs, painters, damps, or disruptors would be. Meaning a handful of ships will cripple your regardless of if you fit a few mods to counter them. Fit a AB or MWD and move in closer!
Yes, I said *closer*! Move as close as you can, and engage those Star Destroyers at point blank range! |

The only real solutions are to use a different weapon system or bring along an alt so at least one of the toons can kill some of the NPC ships.
Why does a toon that is going to live in null need standings anyway? |

Thanx for the answers sofar guys. After posting I got so annoyed I tried the mission again and pulled it off.
The ship I used was a Harbinger fitted with pulse lasers, but without drones (no skills). The 2 tracking computers werent doing the trick.
Heres what I did:
- I warped in from the same spot (a station) to the same range multiple times. I simply stayed there everytime until my tank was going down too much for repping (half structure). - The offending disruptors were fitted on frigs. Frigs orbit at around 5 -15 km in NPC land so by warping in and out they eventually were all near my warp in point. - Then I refitted 2 webs on the Harbinger and warped back in again. If only 2 frigs are disrupting, you can hit the frigs between 4500 meters and 6700 meters, if you use the normal tricks to max tracking and dualweb them.
Took me a while because I had to warp out when there were more then 2 disrupting too long and my tank broke, but it worked! |

if you're going to nullsec, train drone skills and stop derping around with mission standings.
And if you're tank is good enough, you can just get closer. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

Try as much range as you can get. Sniping. If you go with the close all the way in idea, consider using keep at range and speed control to reduce your trans velocities.
I liked this cause it involves the tracking formula and like td Ewar as well so I did some EFTwarrioring on this snowy afternoon. Hope nobody minds.
You didn't say what your flying so without drones or missiles I ruled out Caldari and Gallente. Kind of ruled out rails. Level 3's, I looked at BC's and looked for range bonused Minnie or or Amarr. What I found was the Tornado and another interesting ship I haven't flown. The Harbinger Navy issue. One has range bonus, the other tracking speed. Though I was looking for range, I like the tracking speed. :) Since its level 3 I stuck with a medium gun and came up with a Navy Harbinger. Looking up the specs on the tracking disruptor frigate know we need over 50 km range. http://npc.elfarto.com/view.php?id=24052
Seems that Focused medium beams with faction radio reach out right about where we need. No idea what your gunnery or fitting support skills are like, mine are 5's so your mileage will vary. Even though these td's are only 30% chance, lets assume like you say that 5 hit you???? What to do? Only thing we can, keep at optimal with a pulsed mw and start tossing on tracking computers and enhancers. They are the counter to td, Its certainly not 1 to 1 but then I ran the tracking sim against a frigate of similar speed and its coming up with 50-75% chance to hit with 2 td's applied (5TDs * 30% = 1.5 TD's applied) with tracking scripts depending on range. With my skills It rapidly drops off beyond optimal and your optimal will vary with how many TDs your hit with.
Still needs track proven but I know sniping is nice and is a laid back way to pop frigates and run missions btw.
Or If I missed the mark on the Amarr, try a Tornado with a Microwarp Jump drive But then you got those big guns resolution and tracking speed. The MWJ would give you the range though. |

Ships utilizing a bastion module are immune to ewar. You said 'drone boat,' I assume you mean Domi? Go for battleship5.
Though in a lvl 3 a drone boat should work fine - sentries + prophecy. Orbit your sentries and set them to aggressive. Fit a MWD so you can burn away from ships if you feel the need, redeploy sentries and just keep an eye on their health. |

All you have to do is get within optimal of a TDing ship and then move towards it at the same speed as it orbits you. It will force the NPC to fly directly away from you so you get good hits.
Used to do that with a Pally (before the change) in the lvl4 version. it was slow but it worked. I also tried to snipe the TDing frigs before they argoed.
PS, drones are super useful. |

Never use drones? So you're basically limiting yourself to BC or

Unless you are using a ship with 2X Webs or a bonused web you will pretty much be excluded from doing lvl4 missions (or at he very least it will be very very slow).
Spider drones are almost impossible to kill without drones or small guns and elite frigs are almost as bad (they do shoot light drones so you have to watch them)
