Here's a crazy idea.
Currently, asteroids provide no defensive benefits. In fact, they hamper mobility to such a degree that going into an asteroid belt in the middle of combat is basically tactical suicide. So I was thinking... what if asteroids (and possibly gas clouds, or other similar objects) in your proximity reduced your scan resolution? This would make you harder to hit while in an asteroid belt and add an interesting new tactical facet to combat in EVE Online. A small fleet could hunker down in an asteroid belt to improve their defenses, using the interstellar terrain to their advantage.
Also, please decrease the size of the massive hitboxes that asteroids have. They're ridiculous.
This has been another installment of, Here's a Crazy Idea. Tune in next week for more crazy ideas. How droll. |

I like it.
Biggest overall strategy improvement I've ever heard.
If you could make proximity to individual Roids have an impact it would actually be advantageous to maneuver your ship through them like in the movies. Instead of just a beacon bonus. And no I don't care about "server load"... If it really even exists :p |

Wormholes aren't terrain, that's environment. Terrain is the isolated things on the grid itself, not a whole system However the hit-boxes would need fixing first, which is really a DX-11 tessellation collision tech required. Rather than the current engine. |

Neat idea. Maybe if you were within 1km of an asteroid it would block you from D-scan as well. It would force enemies to physically check asteroid fields. I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week. |

I like this idea +1 from me. This is akin to nap of the earth flying that all fighters/fast attack bombers do now. Orbit close in to the belt and the sigs of the roids will block yours out. Be really nice to make it more of a challenge to hunt down miners and also introduce a new tactic of laying a fleet of frigs in a belt like a funnel spider waiting for a juicy BC or such to come through :) |

I like this, should make Dscan more difficult, maybe have to aim it the belt and the smaller ships have better chance of being hidden.
A large belt could hide a BS or maybe a limit of mass depending on the belt? A mined belt would hide less mass.
More tactical play, having frigs flying up an asteroid field to get away from the warp in point, enjoying the immunity from Dscan before warping off.
Dont ever think this will happen, but it would be good fun if it did! |

I doubt it will ever happen (in EvE), but definately +1. |
