I'm wondering if it's possible to solo Lvl.4 missions in a Raven. I have good missile skills and Caldari BS at V.
I have tried alot of setups, but none of them seemed to be able to withstand the DPS you encounter on Lvl.4 missions.
Setups i've tried:
4x siege II 2x cruise II -- 1x XL shield booster II 1x Shield boost amplifier 3x Invuln field II 1x Cap recharger II -- 4x PDS II 1x BCS II
6xCruise II 1xHvy nosf -- 1x XL Shield booster II 2x Shield Amp 3x Race specific hardeners -- 4x PDS II 1x BCS II
6xSiege -- 5x Cap recharger II 1x AB II -- 1x large armor rep II 3x race specific hardeners
Any Raven setups, where you could succesfully solo most Lvl4's are welcome. Also, I was wondering - does fitting a WCS serve any purpose? Because until now I only have come across 1 ship scrambling at a time.
Thanks in advance! _________________________ Thomas Epsilon

My setup:
6 Cruise II 2 250 Prototype -- 2 Gista A Small boosters 3 Rat specific hardeners 1 Painter -- 3 PDU II 2 BCU II
I can run the 2 boosters and 3 hardeners constantly and never drop below 58% capacitor. On most lvl 4's, my shields never drop below 90%. I can solo most of the level 4's, but some of the harder ones I take some of my corp mates to help deal damage to knock them out faster.
The two boosters are hideously expensive, but worth it to me because I don't have to constantly watch my cap.....I always have plenty.

Shoud work just fine, if not, try chancing two of the cruise to torpedoes
And make sure you have your drone bay filled :P Some people (like me) fit heavy nos to ease the cap a bit to, i woud recomend that

I run the following when i use the raven for L4s:
[HI] -6x Arb Cruise -2 named heavy nos (or) 1 heavy nos and one drone range link
[Med] -DG XL Shield Booster -3 race specific T2 hardeners -1 T2 Invul field -painter for cruiser heavy missions, heavy injector for supertanking, sensor booster for sniping rats at 150km.
[Low] -3x Pds T2 -2x Bcu T2 (or) 1x Bcu II and 1x named damage control for hardcore tanking
[Drones] -5x medium T2s (swapped depending on what im fighting) -5x light T2s (also swapped as needed)
I've found that the extra hardeners increase my tankability more so than the shield boost amps. And of course, i never bother to start repping until my shield hits 35%. Your tank will last much longer if you are holding it in it's peak recharge band and letting your passive recharge do the brunt of the work.
All my cap and tank related skills are at level four right now and my tank holds out very well vs level 4 spawns. The OPs missle skills are far superior to my own but my Arbies get the job done.

On a more realistic note for your situation, I would recommend:
Hi - 6 Arbalest Siege (cheap, I have a set I can sell you cheap if you want) - 1 Heavy Nosferatu (named if possible) - Small Tractor beam (mission runner's best friend)
Med - XL T2 Shield Booster - Shield Boost Amplifier - Invulnerability Field II - T2 Thermal and EM active hardeners 55% (switch em for kinetic depending on rats) - Cap Recharger II
Low - 3 Power Diag II - 1 Cap power relay (loses shield boost, but gains survivability) - Ballistic Control Unit 1 (use T2 if you have the skills or PDU for stronger tank)
This is the setup I would recommend in your situation. Using the arb siege, you should easily fit it, as I used to use similar to the above, but with 2 heavy nos. Using arb's and the ballistic should give a Caldari BS 4 character around a 10.05 or so ROF, with torps hitting for around 675.
Watch your cap recharge, if you seem to have no problems with bursts of boost, and your cap is holding, look into dropping the med slot cap charger, and replace it with a target painter to help you drop cruisers with those torps + drones.
I spent well over a year using a setup almost identical to the above soloing L4 missions, until I started upgrading to what I have now. My current setup (previous post) is really far too excessive, but I just love having that control.
I would recommend your first factional upgrade upon saving to be a Pith B-Type XL Booster. These can be purchased for around 200m, and give very large amounts of boost for the same usage. Alternatively, I have heard that X-type Large gist boosters are quite good with l4 missions, at similar pricing. ------------------------------------------ Dreadnought Production INC is recruiting Join DPI Channel Or Visit (IGB) http://www.mmorpg-online.net/intro.html |

Edited by: Demolition Gunit on 19/03/2006 05:45:12 If u want to fit for a massive tank u should try this:
High: 6x Arbalest Siege Missile Launchers
Meds: 1x X-Large Shield Booster II 4x Tec2 Shield Hardners ( wich one depends on the mission ofcource and if u want a all resistance tank try 1 x EM 3 x Invull ull be amazed ) 1 Heavy Capacitor Booster ( with 800 Cap Booster Charge(s) )
lows: 2x Power Diagnostic System II 2x Ballistic Control System ll 1x ( Named ) Damage Control
Dronebay:
7x Vespa II ( those drones eat away frigs )
Good Luck.....
Demo.

Your set-ups look good,
i used to fly Raven on lv4's and i found that Good Engineering skills helped me loads,
once you get them Engineering skills over 1.5mill s/p you can tank for ages and lv4's become easyer.

I fly my raven with this setup.
[Top] ZW-4100 Siege Launcher I x6 (I'm too cheap for arbs :P) Heavy Deminishing Power Drain x1 and Small Tractor Beam x1. [Mid] XL C5 Emergency Shield Overload x1 Shield Boost Amp x1 Hardeners x2 (Depends on the mission) Cap Recharger II x2 [Low] PDU IIs and CPU modification.
Works for me in most cases. I usually only have to warp once or so in the medium to hard difficulty missions. I'll more then likely train Caldari BS to 4 soon and then get Tech II cruise missiles. For now this is good.

I use
6x Arbalest Cruise Launchers 2x Heavy Nosferatu
1x Pith B-Type Large Shield Booster 1x Gist B-Type Shield Boost Amp 3x Rat Specific Hardeners 1x Sensor Booster/Target Painter/Afterburner (depending on the type of mission)
3x PDS II 2x BCU II
For missions like Guristas Extravaganza or Gone Berserk with lots of BS's i fit 6 ZW-4100 Siege Launchers and 2 tractor beams with an AB.
The booster gives me 396 shields per activation for 153.6 cap (shield compensation 2) thats like running a tech 1 XLarge booster for a smaller amount of the cap. The tank runs for over 3 minutes with max cap skills. but i fire in 30 second bursts whenever my shields hit 30-40%. ----------------------------------- HaHaHa! This sig is edit proof! Edited by: Mangus Thermopyle on 19/03/2006 12:06:49 I use this setup when doing level 4: - 6 * arbalest cruise, 2 small tractor beams - gisti b-type xlarge shield booster, 2 hardneers, 2 cap rechargers tech 2, DG shield boost amplifier - 4 PDU tech 2, 1 BCU tech 2
With my implants, I shield boost over 900 every 4 second, for 170 in cap.
This tank is a little overkill for some missions, but I can run the tank forever, which is really nice if you get lag or dropped connection (I just start shield boosting at the start of the mission, and never turn it off).
I have also soloed the 6/10 gurista complex in this setup (its pretty easy).

I did not read all the posts on setups i will give you my setup has handled every level 4 mission but one that i have tried (enemies abound 5 of 5, i had the wrong missiles and hardneers fited, had to warp out and then more and more spawned... might have done it with the right ammo/hardners)
High 6x Seige II 1x Large smartbomb
Mids 4x Hardener II's(depends on rats) 1x sheild boost amp 1x Large sheild booster II
Lows 4x BCU II 1x PDU II

Run the numbers. I was kind of surprised, but here's what I came up with.
Boosting over a 60 second period of time
*Large T2* Cap Usage: 2400 Shields Boosted: 3600 Avg Shield Booster per Cap Used: 1.5
*X-Large T2* Cap Usage: 4800 Shields Boosted: 7200 Avg Shield Booster per Cap Used: 1.5
Same cap usage over time

Why do people use invulnerability fields? In my experience, rats (Gursitas in my case) tend to do mostly 1 type of damage and a little of another (kinetic/thermal). So why use an invulnerability field, which gives you half the % for twice the cap?
Also, what kinds of skills are you guys using? I have engineering/electronics V. I use this setup: Hi: 6x Siege Missile Launcher I 1x Heavy Nos 1x Small Tractor Med: XLarge Shield Booster I 1x Heat Dissipation Field I 2x Ballistic Deflection Field I 1x Shield Boost Amp 1x Large Shield Extender Low: 3x PDS 2x Co-proc
I'm training weapon upgrades from 3 to 4 right now. I think i should drop the Extender, maybe for a boost amp or another hardener. Right now I'm using T1. T2 takes even more PG/CPU. What other skills am I missing?
