After fishing for information regarding blueprint R&D and finding many people new to this in the same position, I have hastely put together this guide to blueprint resarch & development. It is short and sweet, but it works in lack of a better guide, to help out all of us who want some info about BPs without wasting TOO much time.
Enjoy and pass around.
Here is a link, it is in PDF and you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, free.
Blueprint R&D Guide
I have based this on my limited experience in PBs and the adive of hundreds of players over 3 sites dedicated to EVE forums. If any of you have anny suggestions or see something wrong, please let me know so that I may fix it. I will update the file automatically.
Thank you.

comments: - its true that there are "orignals and copys" but in reality there are 3 types of blueprints currently, the originals, the unlimited copys, and the (new) copys aka licences.
- another faq kind of thing is that its only orignal blueprints that are sold on the market (even though they are listed ats copy:1), the place to buy copys and licences are the trade channel.
- you mention what the science skill does, but not what metalurgy and research skills does.
- you might want to add that researching production effeciency is basicly useless since a: its not production time thats a problem (its minerals) b: its buged only removes a 5sec production time not 5% (is this still true?)
- yet another faq kind of thing: the actual minerals needet is 25% higher than those stated on the bp, this can be neutralised by training PE skill.
- the production effeciency skill does reduce the total (or is it just the main) required minerals and not the waste factor as you write.
just a quick list :-)

Edited by: Ansuul on 10/09/2003 17:47:00 BTW, the formula for the reduction due to production time research is:
5 * (PL/(PL+1))
in seconds, which as others pointed out, is rather pointless.

Great minds think alike as they say... I had just talked to Lotta about putting a guide I pulled together up on Eve-i.com before I came across this post. I've got a word doc version already done if anyone is interested (message me in-game). -D

I have yet to start any BP R&D work, too new to EVE still. BUT, one thing I never see mentioned, how do you get the BP to research on in the first place? Market, Random drop, or what?

From the market, or from the trade channel... don't know if they drop from pirates or not. Certainly very rare if at all to do so.

Any chance of having a plain text version? That's completely unreadable on my screen

AS I had previously mentioned, I have written a guide to manufacturing and research. It was just posted up at eve-i.com.
