What are some pros and cons for both? I am aware Amarr has more PG for guns, but it seems like a hostile fleet can anticipate the EM/Therm Damage output and tank that. Minmatar variable damage types sound great but less PG for guns. Though CPU is slightly higher allowing for more ECM. Also, with Minmatar ships....auto's or arties? So many options >.> |

Google POS builder and use that to design your POS and what you want it to do.
Generally i say Minnie if you need to use guns, and use guns and ECM. Otherwise Caldari and use nothing but ECM BECAUSE, if someone has brought enough firepower to kill your POS it doesn't matter if you have guns, so making life difficult for them is your best bet as they are less likely to want to try and remove your tower if it's nothing but ECM. |

Only use Caldari ECM Control Towers if you plan to actually man them in case of an attack. In virtually every other case, Caldari ECM Control Towers are a false good idea.
Because since turrets switch targets every three cycles, and since they unlock before locking again, it means that with its reduced cycle time, ECM with a Caldari Tower will cycle so fast that proportionally most of its time will be spend locking instead of jamming.
So I'd definitely recommend a Matarr tower. It has plenty of CPU for ECM. Plus you can add a small bubble at your moon warp-in point, a lot of containers around it, and small autocannons nearby to quickly shoot and destroy imprudent scouts G££ <= Me |

The reality is no pos configuration will be able to withstand a well prepared attacker. Do what fits your infrastructure needs first, then focus on delay instead of destroy on any configurations. |

This is correct, the best defence of a tower is deterrent. Lots of hardeners even offline ones means it could potentially be a longer than desired bash. Also don't put alot of flashy things in the shields, keep them in SMA's and limit the amount of stuff you keep in your wormhole.
If you have carriers then try and keep small ships around that if you get attacked can be moved off.
If they want your WH for themselves, and it's a much larger group than you there's little you can do. If they are looking to bash to make isk off you, then be able to stash all your stuff in caps/orcas and warp to a safe spot and wait for downtime to log your ship off for you. Once an SMA/corp hanger gets offlined and unanchored you'd be surprised how quickly griefer groups lose interest.

A tower by itself isn't the best defense. A tower with an appropriate fleet defending it and pos gunners can be a total nightmare. No trolling please |

The tower you use is almost 100% irrelevant. You should basically just use whatever you have on hand/what has the cheapest fuel. Would also highly recommend using all the same race towers if you have multiples in one WH.
Personally I use a Medium Dark Blood because I had one and the fuel costs are low. Note that I live in a C5 where POS defenses are irrelevant. If youre in a c1-4, use a large tower are set up good defenses. Stuck In Here With Me:-á http://sihwm.blogspot.com.au/ |

Another good defense is to rotate your tower type ever other week or so. If someone is planning to dunk you and is in the observation/seeding phase it will ruin his day.
Caldari ECM one week, Amarr neut the next and then right into a minmatar dps nightmare. He'll keep changing his invasion plans and more than likely lose all credibility with his corp or alliance. Would you believe a guy who changes the target tower type every 2 weeks?
Jack speaks the truth - keep them all the same for ease of fueling, but don't be afraid to change things up every other week just to keep the bad guys on their toes. |

I prefer Amarr towers for anything out side of high sec.
The real question is which fuel type is produced locally.
Price is still king in this debate. |
