looks like i need to buy a dread again. i sold mine over a year ago as a result of disuse, but i'll be back in npc null soon and want to have one ready to rock when needed. i'd be using it for hotdrops and counter-hotdrops, not structure bashing.
i know the moros used to be the king of dreads, but the nag's selectable damage really appeals to me, and the dps projection is darn good too. i flew a rev (since i am amarr) when i first got it before the skillbook change, but since then i've trained the three gunnoughts to IV, so it's just a matter of picking one.
beyond that, do most non-sov gangs still fly with reppers, or does everything just prayertank their ships with a few hardeners and hope they don't get focused? i know that i've seen nags that were both armor and shield tanked, as well, is there a preference? i can't seem to get as much EHP armor-tanked as shield-tanked, or near as much tank amount, but it's very cap-intensive.
thanks for the info. i looked at killmails, but most seem to be fit with alliance SRP in mind, rather than just replacing as needed. i am most interested in knowing about the reppers. i make spreadsheets for pretty cheap. contact me for more info.

I've heard of people using arty Nags to alpha slow cat fleets so there's that. Unless your alliance really prefers one particular dread any of them will probably be fine as long as its not the Phoenix. Moros is still the king of raw DPS but as you mentioned the Nag has damage selection. |

i doubt my fleet would have more than a few dreads at any given time, so it looks like the nag's flexibility is the way to go.
anyone know anything about reppers and all that? should i do one or the other, or not use one at all? i make spreadsheets for pretty cheap. contact me for more info.

I don't have any actual fits because i can't fly such things yet but i do know that the fits are mission specific. gank and run fits often involve cap boosters so that you can leave siege with enough cap to jump out immediately. travel fits usually have a ton of cap mods. max gank and max tank fits also will be needed. when in siege which will be 99% of dread combat i don't believe you can receive friendly logi so having a self repper is a must especially when you look at the bonuses to local tank given by an active siege module. So anyway have several fits ready to go and use carriers to refit in the field if available. here is a list of all the fiat currencies that didn't end up at zero value.....and here is a list of the places where a currency pegged to a real commodity has successfully co-existed with compound interest....-á Here is a physics professor explaining why sustainable growth isn't a thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-QA2rkpBSY |

All the fits I've seen for quick dropping or counter dropping are fit for near max gank, with 2 EANMs and a repper. Here are fits for a Moros and Rev. Adjust meta/faction mods as midget allows.
Moros: Blap
Highs: Siege Module II Ion Siege Blaster Cannon I (x3)
Mids: Heavy Capacitor Booster II (x2) Tracking Computer II Sensor Booster II (x2)
Lows: Damage Control II Capital Armor Repairer I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II (x2) Magnetic Field Stabilizer II (x3)
Rigs: Capital Trimark Armor Pump I (x2) Capital Hybrid Burst Aerator II
Revelation: Disco Dropper
Highs: Siege Module II Dual Giga Pulse Laser I (x3)
Mids: Heavy Capacitor Bposter II (x2) Sensor Booster II Tracking Computer II
Lows: Damage Control II Capital Armor Repairer I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II (x2) Heat Sink II (x4)
Rigs: Capital Trimark Armor Pump I (x2) Capital Energy Burst Aerator II
Feel free to swap a heat sink for a hardener of your choice. I wear my goggles at night.

are the boosters for anti-neuting, or because it's impossible to keep cap in these things with the repper running? i make spreadsheets for pretty cheap. contact me for more info.

They are to cap up after jump primarily.
Regarding the repper/no repper thing - i think it's a question of scale. Would a repper or two do you much good if you get primaried by 20 enemy caps or so?
I also wouldn't go with a static fit. have a base fit that you use, but more mods for different situations in cargo - maybe theres a friendly carrier next to you that you can switch fitting on as needed.

right, i wasn't planning on a flat fit, but i wanted to make sure i knew what the standard was. i've flown dreads and carriers in pvp before, so it's more just me trying to get back into it after a long time being out of it. i make spreadsheets for pretty cheap. contact me for more info.

Raw =/= applied. I know a lot of people will say "you're doing it wrong" in response to "we use armor Swaglfars," but we're a wormhole corp. Armor Nag has drastically better tracking than a Moros, and our Nag pilots regularly record better average hits than the Moros pilots.
I suppose in null, the requirements and fighting are different than what we encounter, so if blapping supers, yeah, the Moros is going to be king. Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It is beautiful. http://thegreattichim.wordpress.com/ |

Are you going to have at least one refit carrier with you? Having a rep and being able to refit full tank substantially increases the value of that rep over going in DPS fit and running that rep with only an EANM or two in front of it. |

Mobile Depot Also packing multiple fits in the dread will make definately help (especially with shield for max dps and armor for survivability) Oh, Do go on... no seriously ive got nothing better to do then listen to all the petty arguments and feeble trolling attempts...-á
The sad thing is i'm not sure if i'm telling the truth. |
