I frequently play with both my headset and speakers and prior to a few patches ago I use to be able to do so with no issues. However, after Rubicon was released I noticed that I am no longer able to switch between my speakers/headset with EVE running and have it's sound quality remain intact. After switching the sounds become distorted, obnoxiously loud, and undefinable.
This will occur with one or more than one client. I do not have a dedicated sound card and use the on-board sound of my Z87-Pro ASUS mother board.
Specifications here: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87PRO/#specifications
Processor is an Intel i7 4770K.
All other programs will properly switch devices and sound correct, EVE is the only one which does not. I have tried turning sound off and back on after switching devices with no luck.
Any ideas?

i do it also, alterning between headset sound card / integrated for speakers, both on laptop and desktop, and didn't noticed any issue or distorsion.
maybe some driver get updated on your side and are causing the issue? |

Perhaps. I will install my sound drivers to some older versions for both my motherboard sound driver as well as my Logitech G930. Though, since the distortion occurs only for EVE and it affects it on both output devices regardless of which direction I'm changing it, I'm not sure which would be the culprit. |

Generic sound cards can be quite buggy when sample rates are switched. Maybe eves sound has a higher sample rate than set in your controls and you are losing samples.
Make sure windows and your device have the same settings or missing/skipped samples can be audible as distortion.

I would think that with no change to my system however, card/drivers, etc, and the only change coming from EVE's patch, that something was changed?
I don't know what's going on. No drivers fix the issue. I've checked sampling rate and I've set it to Studio Quality 24 bit, 192000 Hz, on the HD Audio chip(mobo), and DVD Quality 16 bit, 48000 Hz, on my G930 headset. Keep in mind both pieces of hardware remained the same over the last four years with no issues until recently.
