Hi all,
I have three planets running coolant, + others running various things.
Two planets have got 13 Installations on them, and the third has only 9 due to placement issues.
I've noticed that the 9 Installation planet produces more coolant than the 13 Installation planet, and both planets are in the same system.
Is this down to the amounts I'm pulling from the planet or from some other game mechanic I've never heard of?
Also, should I be pulling more of one material than the other to keep my refineries running?
I tend to try and match the amounts on the surveys before submitting.
Thanks in advance. |

Could you upload a screenshot of both planets for me?
I am currently doing PI out of a WH with a High Sec staic because the yield on the planets is much higher.
Here is my setup http://imgur.com/qdYLY6X |

I have similar setups in low-sec and they produce enough to run both advanced factories permanently + every other day I switch to producing another raw good after the stockpile in storage is enough to cover the time extracting it whilst keeping the advanced facs running.
I only have one storage though as that is enough, the other storage is replaced with a basic factory for the additional P1 processing as and when I can. |

Honestly, I've done PI since it's introduction approaching 4 years ago in a few months.
My hard-won info: Really, it's best (and don't anyone bother to tell me it's not.....I've done just about every combo possible with 5 toons and 30 planets) to pull and manufacture only up to P1 on the individual planets. You will pull a heck of a lot more of the relevant P0's in the same amount of time as before.
Then just assemble it all on a dedicated "factory planet". If you are maxed out already on planets, just make an alt on that account and train it only till it can deal with the one PI planet.
Across my 5 toons doing this on the 30 planets, 4 factory planets operate at capacity. "He has mounted his hind-legs, and blown crass vapidities through the bowel of his neck."-á - Ambrose Bierce on Oscar Wilde's Lecture in San Francisco 1882 |

The link from the extractor control unit to your storage without being upgraded can only transfer 50,000 units per extraction cycle. To keep 13 factories running you'll need an upgraded link to support the 78,000 units you need. You'll obviously also need to be able to extract his much material per cycle. |

There could be a lot of things going on to cause this.
There are no mentions of what these installations are. Is it 13 vs 9 extractor heads? 13 vs 9 industry buildings? 13 vs 9 total buildings? What exactly is the difference in the setup? Until there is more info, a shotgun approach will have to do.
Your output is hard limited by the number of coolant buildings on the planet. 5 per hour per building. Each coolant building must be supplied with a basic industry building of both ingredients. Each of those, to run at full capacity, must be fed 6k of the relevant P0 extracted material per hour. So if you have 3 coolant buildings, you need to be extracting 3*6k or 18,000 of both Aqueous Liquids and Ionic Solutions per hour. If you're extracting 12,000 of each per hour then you aren't getting any use out of that third coolant chain. So that's possibility 1.
Possibility 2: You may be mis-routing and losing material. Possibility 3: You may be filling your storage and losing material. Possibility 4: You may be basing your calculations off the wrong number. Extraction program estimates aren't accurate until you start them. Some have said this has to do with your Planetology skill. Possibility 5: Planets have natural variance in their rates of extraction, even with the same 'abundance' rating. It depends on how the resources are distributed. If you have the same number of extraction heads on a planet, that's nowhere near a guarantee that they'll pull the same amount of resources, even at the best spot on the given planet.
There could be other things going on as well. Screenshots of the setup would go a long way.
