Hi.
I have seen a lot of female names accompanied by female avatars in EVE, and most of these characters have a man behind the keyboard.
Personally, being represented by a female name and avatar feels weird to me. Does anyone else feel the same way?
Anyway, is this behaviour a sign of homosexuality? Does it reflect the desire some men have, to be more like a woman? |

Is wanting to be a warlord a sign of homosexuality?

Wat ?
Troll 5/10, with enough finition to be unsure if a troll.
Assuming its not, lets make a detailed answer :
People make three types of avatars : - Those meant to represent who they are - Those meant to represent who they want to be - Those meant to represent who they want to play. (Which is the correct definition of an in-game avatar. In this category you will find some people who rightfully want their game to be far from their daily life. Others who just don't care.)
I'm going to assume some numbers but I believe they are close to the truth. 5% belongs to the fist (CCP devs likes to do that I noticed :D) 5% belongs to the second. 90% belongs to the third category.

No, but interesting question :).
Funny that the first three replies are female avatars XD.
So Altrue, basically you're saying that want to pretend to be a woman.
Doesn't that strike you as an indicator, at least in some cases, for homosexual tendencies? |

Did You know, that Polar Bears can weigh up to 1000 kilo gramms?
It's really amazing, those things can run fast as a car and can swim for several hundret miles without pause, smell prey up 30 miles aways and fertile females up 100 miles.
If one decides to kill you (I saiy killing because hunting would mean it could fail) it could rip you limb from limb before you could shoult "I've got free fish in that airthight sealed barrel over there!" the bear tho would probably smell that, too.
And yet everybody loved Knut, the cuddly widdle polar bear from the zoo in Berlin.. friggin morons. Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Or it can be for the way female avatars are treated within the game. Easier to beg for money, easier to gain someones trust, looks more reliable and honest when pushing scams.
On another note, why would someone name themselves 'Diamond'? It insinuates or at least suggests a male fairy that loves his jewellery and prances around in a tutu with a glittering crown. Is that an indicator, at least in most cases, for homosexual tendencies?

I edited my message because I wanted it to be near to the top, so I posted before having finished it. You should re read again :D
Also I could have posted with one of my male avatars if you prefer. I have strong masculine males avatar too. But actually I'd find myself more inclined for homosexuality if I was focusing myself on strong males characters, but maybe that's a wrong assumption.
And anyway homosexuality is fine, I hope you know that: Signature Tanking - Best Tanking. |

I think the problem that you have is that you do not understand what homosexuality means,
Homosexuality has nothing to do with what gender you desire to be.
Homosexuality is defined as being attracted to people of the same gender as yourself.
That being said, homosexual men have no desire to be women. They do not find women inherently attractive.
Transgender would be defined as having a desire to be a different gender than what you were physically born as.
In either case, if you start banging on a bible you will never be a warlord.

Anyway, is this behaviour a sign of homosexuality? Does it reflect the desire some men have to be more like a woman? Each questionmark could be followed with a "No" to answer it. One of my friends was playing some kind of avatar-based MMO, and said that if he had to look at an avatars behind for years, it'd better be a pretty avatar. In EVE, our avatars are our ships. Ships don't have genders (Well, excluding the Thorax hulls). Whatever our display pictures may be, and if that corresponds to whatever gender is controlling the character, is really only a picture with no significance. I might ask "All male EVE players have neckbeards. When your avatar doesn't, does that reflect your desire to be an actual human being?" and not only make a really dumb / stereotyped premise, but also miss all the marks entirely.
I like that you need to claim that someone else is apparently closeted homosexual, as if that would make you feel better. Do you desire to be a part of a majority all of a sudden?

On the same topic, is piloting an Avatar a sign of bestiality? This just in, not only are Titans huge, erected, costinefficient spacepenises, the Avatar titan class is also... THE DEVIL! Yes, the Catholic-esque faction has chained their devil and made him into a spaceship. Piloting an Avatar will make you homosexual, bestial and a devil-worshipper.
It's almost true!

I am wondering whether it is a sign of homosexuality to have an avatar of the same sex. After all, you have to look at the Avatar quite a lot and thus it seems reasonable to assume that heteros would chose an Avatar of the other sex.
Or it just might be possible that the choice of an Avatar has nothing to do with sexuality.
However, the choice of an Avatars name is connected to intelligence as are forum threads. |
