Nope. If your container contains public material, and is open in a public place, you can't use the law to defend from someone taking it. If they take your container you can accuse them of stealing, but not if they take the contents.

Consider how much a Large Secure container holds.
Now Consider how much you can fit inside a jettisoned non-secure container.
No, it doesn't seem right to me
Isn't the simple solution for CCP to greatly reduce the amount that a standard non-secure container can hold?
AND / OR
lower the amount of time the unsecure container stays in space before it explodes
That is the reason why people spend so long solo at asteroid belts, slowly filling up the container.
Like the inside of Dr Who's Tardis, it's WAy WAY bigger on the inside than outside |

I think it's going to be really funny when CCP slashes the size and utility of the jettison containers in response to the constant whining about ore thieves.. then these idiots won't be able to just sit there and mine forever with a container of infinite size.
There. No more ore thief complaints :) Problem solved.

sadly if they did that most miners wont play the game and without us...ship builders dont make there ships..without those the game is ass.
I think ore thiefs are an important role in EVE...but like most I think that even in a 1.0 system peeps should be ablet o defend whats theres..my name is on the can..I am sitting next to the can,,its still mine! if I am nowhere to be seen..then its your ore for all I care.
