Is it possible to calculate the number of required jumps to travel from point A to point B in the game? Often, I have wondered how long it would take to go from one solar system in a region to another when looking at the expansive map.

The map will do it for you...
One of the great features of this game is the autopilot. Find your destination system by either using the map or the "People and Places" window. Right click on it and "set destination". If you are in the map, it will show you the route and the number of jumps. If you are not in the map and out in space, you will see the list of systems on the left side and the number of jumps at the top.
Make sure you set your autopilot settings appropriately to avoid low security systems, if desired.
The time it takes you to make the trip will depend on the speed of your ship, as you always come out of warp 15km from the gate. (You can get instabookmarks to speed up this process.)

Edited by: Kee Greycastle on 29/03/2006 15:06:41 The best way is to learn your map (F10 I think) There you can set the autopilot by right clicking the system you plan to go to and clicking "add waypoint." Once you do that a list of all the systems you have to go through will appear at the upper left hand side.
Remember: the number of jumps listed depends on certain map-autopilot settings. If you set the autopilot to avoid systems with podkills or any system <=0.4 then you will have a longer route but you'll stay alive.
Good luck!

Maybe Remedios was thinking point A and B where neither is your current location.
For instance, my corp has offices all over eve, but if I want to go to a certain system, I need to find out which office is closer to my destination so I'll know where to pod jump. That would be nice.
And also I would like an option to see all of the corps offices on the map without having to search for each one (if there is one already please excuse me, I can't see past my eyeglasses...)

First do select destination to point A, then add waypoint, point B. Deduct jumps to point A from total.
There is a calculator on the left of your screen if the numbers exceed the numbers of your fingers and toes.

I saw a squirrel today jumping from one tree to another, the branch it landed on snapped. So the squirrel was on this falling branch, clambering like mad, thinking it was doing something about it.'

Thanks all for the reply. Maruk, you also included part of my question in the initial all-inclusive inquiry T: Glad Severe answered.
Fourth day in the game, so still a bit overwhelmed.
