Don't know if anyone has ever posted this before, but I think it would be cool to have an illusion generator that changes what your ship shows up as.
The skills could branch off of the cloaking skills(Electronics V,Cloaking III,Illusion Gen I,etc) and it could use a high slot as well.
Instead of a reduction in speed and scan resolution as a penalty, maybe increased sig radius and inability to warp while illusion is up (reasoning that all computer systems are working to help keep the illusion up - nav comp down)
I was thinking for adv skill, (or maybe a separate mod that only battlecruisers can use) that project additional ships or drones in the area. This would use like 100 cap for 30 seconds or something like that.
Anywho was just thinking some mods like this would be fun. Feel free to comment and improve upon these ideas.

radar and lidar and the other types of sensors would see right through it. Not practical.
And you are normally outside of "visual range" anyways. It's why ships normally show up as a +

Earth and Beyond had this... it too was a rip off of cloaking. Basically you had an x% chance of getting recognized as NOT being floating debris. Of course EnB was a carebear game.

if you could become an asteroid and hide in an asteroid maybe yes, but it seems to me like an attempt to put magic into eve :(

Hmmm...good points, I didnt really intend for the illusion to make people afraid to engage, as much as give false info as to what damage types to bring etc. (Granted I do not know how much reconnaisance people do)
Turning into an asteroid? Didnt think of that but it would be cool, just have to watch out for miners :) (Though this could be helpful to pirates, though I do not condone piracy)
Creating people in local...what would their names be?
And by the way Dust Angel, our corp name is better than yours ;)

It has a coolness factor about it, but after the gimmick wears off it'd just be plain ass annoying.

Sounds like a great idea to me. Could be used very well as a tactical device to decieve the enemy. Disguise 5 BS's as 5 cruisers or inteceptors or whatnot. Give the skill a counter skill that requires a special scanning device... etc. I think it would really add to the game in a tactical sense. I know of two RTS games that had this: Earth 2160 (can you say blobs?) and Homeworld Cataclysm (don't believe hw 2 has it..). ____________________________________________ Don't worry aboutit |
